Looking to your 2012 season off to a flying start? Todmorden's New Year's Revolution cyclocross race returns to Centre Vale Park, Todmorden. West Yorks, for the fourth year on Monday, January 2nd 2012.
Organiser and Singletrack big cheese Chipps Chippendale told us "We get two completely different types of racer here. On one hand you've got the super fit, league racer keen to wrap up his or her standings in this final round of the Yorkshire Points Series – and only too aware of the National Championships a week after the race… and on the other hand, you get the 'I must get fit again' New Year's resolution rider who grabs a bike out of the shed, ignores the hangover and comes out for a good, muddy laugh round a testing course."
The course is the usual Yorkshire mix of woods and playing fields, but this season-ender boast a few extra treats that you won't see many other places. The local brass band turns up to play while the race is on and it's one of the few races that can boast changing rooms and hot showers. Finally, there are the cobbles… A 50m path of soap-slick, uphill cobbles known as the chimney that has often provided the winning move in the race. This inevitably gets a crowd of photographers, hecklers and bemused dog walkers.
