It’s new year, and a new us this week as not before time road.cc and its sister sites off.road.cc and ebiketips get a whole new back end.
That should give us a faster loading site and you a generally better user experience. We’re not changing anything about how road.cc looks and the only visual change we’re making to the other two sites is to move them to the same template as road.cc. Our aim is to make the process as seamless as possibly so you don’t notice anything.
Well, some of you might notice something, anyone that wants to post a comment on Monday… might want to hold off until Tuesday.
That’s because we’re freezing the site database on Monday as part of the final stage of migrating content from the old road.cc into the new version which means if you comment on the site on Monday your comment might not be there on Tuesday. It might, but it also very well might not.
We are planning to do some final final incremental database updates after the big one, but we can’t guarantee to capture comments posted that day. So our advice to regular commenters (and anyone else feeling the urge to comment on Monday) is to either hold your fire til Tuesday, or keep a copy of what you said to repost should it get lost in the move and missed by any mini-updates.
After Monday, normal service should resume on commenting and everything else.
That said, website moves of this size are rarely glitch free so if you notice anything amiss or out of the ordinary about how the site is working in the coming days please let us know, either by email: info@road.cc, via one of our many social media channels, or by popping a comment on the site… just not on Monday.
