Brompton’s electric folding bike lineup has been given a significant shake-up. The titanium T-Line bike now features electric assistance, and becomes the British brand’s lightest electric bike at a claimed 14.1kg with the battery, or 11.2kg without.
Alongside this new addition, both the C Line and P Line models get the same motor treatment as the G Line launched last year – Brompton’s proprietary e-Motiq drive system. Let’s take a closer look at what this big ol’ launch is all about.

Manufactured from carbon and titanium, the Electric T Line is Brompton’s lightest folding e-bike, at a claimed 11.2kg without a battery, and 14.1kg with. That doesn’t make it the lightest folding e-bike in the world, but not many others can offer a claimed range of up to 90km on a bike so light.
The rear hub motor is Brompton’s own e-Motiq system which offers up to 24Nm of torque on the C, P and T Line bikes, but slightly more on the G Line, 30Nm – which makes sense, given the G Line is designed to be ridden more off road.
The motor utilises a torque sensor and comes with a 345Wh battery. The T, C and P Line bikes also get Start Assist Mode, which helps when riders want to set off from a junction or tackle a steep hill – think of it like the hill assist mode in your car, if you have it.
Additionally, there’s a Walk Assist Mode, which we probably don’t really have to explain, but it helps when pushing the bike up to 6km/h.
The “Brompton feeling”

According to the brand, the new electric range really dials in on that “unmistakable Brompton feeling.” Whether that’s the case, we’ll leave to the riders to decide, but Chief Design and Engineering Officer, Will Carleysmith says the new electric range is, “our answer to evolving the way we live and move.”
“We’ve kept everything people love about Brompton,” he adds. “The portability, the engineering, the joy of the ride – and added the intelligence and lightness to make it easier, smarter, and even more fun.
“The Electric T Line in particular is a huge leap forward. It shows that it is possible to have an exceptionally light e-bike, which can stand up to the rigours of daily use, with the power of a smart system. This, alongside the rigorous safety measures that go into making Brompton’s electric bikes, is a combination that we’re excited to see our customers put to the test.”

The e-Motiq System uses a handlebar control which, when paired with the Brompton Electric App, can offer predictions like smart range as well as over-the-air updates. According to Brompton, it even begins to learn how you ride after the first 100km, and every 6km after it “personalises” its predictions even further to more accurately predict how much battery you’re going to drain on your ride.
The bikes come with a 3-year electric system warranty, and are certified to UL2840 and EN15194 standards. The Electric T Line can also be matched with Brompton’s “purpose-built electric luggage.”
The new electric range, including the Electric T Line will be available to pre-order from October 21 via Brompton’s website and the Brompton Junction stores, for sale on October 28. The T Line is priced at £5,799.
