The idea is to bring value to the market for riders who need a hard-charging enduro bike, with components that create confidence during descents. But without ballooning price. YT’s solution is the Capra Core range.

These Core builds in aluminium and carbon-fibre frame options can be configured as 29-inch or mixed-wheel (MX) bikes. Across the range, 170mm forks are standard, as has been the case with Capras for many seasons, with frame travel being 160- or 170mm, depending on wheel choice.

The range starts at £2,499, for the Capra Core 1 in aluminium. It runs a Marzocchi Z1 Bomber fork, Bomber Air reach shock, and four-pot SRAM DB8 brakes. The drivetrain is Shimano’s Deore specification 1×12 and rolling the CORE 1 along are SUNringlé wheels. YT’s Capra Core 1 build rolling 29er wheels weigh 17kg with the MX option at 16.8kg.

Upgrade to Core 2, and you can get a 170mm RockShox ZEB fork complemented by a Vivid Select shock with hydraulic bottom-out control. The drivetrain brand remains Shimano, but it’s the SLX 1×12 set-up with an XT shifter. TRP supply the Capra Core 2’s brakes, while DT Swiss E1900 wheels roll it along.

YT’s Core 2 aluminium build is priced at £2,999 and weighs 16.7kg, with the carbon option retailing for £3,499, at an on-the-trail weight of 16.2kg. Choose MX versions of each, and those weights drop by 500g.

Riders who prefer their YT enduro bikes with coil suspension for those big hits and drop-offs can opt for the Capra Core 3. Swedish suspension specialists, Öhlins supplies its RXF38 M.2 fork and TTX22 M.2 coil shock for the Capra CORE 3 build. The drivetrain is by SRAM, with the brand’s T-Type set-up featuring a GX cassette and wireless S1000 mech. The Capra CORE 3 builds roll on Crankbrothers Synthesis wheels, and TRP DH-R Evo brakes provide the deceleration control.

The YT Capra Core 3s are slightly heavier than Core 2 builds, owning to their coil shock rear suspension, with the Core 3 aluminium frame weighing 16.9kg and the carbon version, 16.4kg. Respective prices for the CORE 3 are £4,499 for the aluminium and £4,999 for the carbon. The MX versions are 16.8kg (aluminium) and 16.1kg (carbon).

Core 4 is YT’s peak build in the updated Capra range. Only available with an ultra-modular carbon frame, it features premium components throughout. Suspension is Fox 38 factory up front, featuring a GRIPX2 damper, while a DHX2 coil shock provides all the control, traction and adjustability enduro riders would need to conquer the most demanding terrain.

The Core4 shifts via SRAM’s GX 1×12 and uses brand-matching Maven four-pot brakes. Wheels are Crankbrothers Synthesis rims, spinning on Industry Nine 1/1 hubs. YT’s Capra Core 4 is priced at £5,999 and the 29er version is 16.2kg with the MX build at 15.9kg.
