If you’re anything like us, you probably watch a lot of mountain bike videos. They may make you feel all kinds of things: you might want to get out on the bike, crashes may make you cringe, and you may even be inspired. We can pretty much guarantee you that this event is not for the faint-hearted. Enjoy…

The Tour de Gnar is anything but tame. Created by Yoann Barelli, 2023 represented the third year of the event. This year saw 30 riders take on 15 features on a day that started at 7 AM. Riders finished up late in the day but got to explore some of Squamish, Whistler and Rutherford. The day wasn’t without casualties, either. Sadly there were a few injuries but it’s to be expected when the limits are being pushed to the extremes.

Chatting to Alex Holowko about taking part, he said: “Tour De Gnar was one of the most testing events I’ve ever been invited to on a mountain bike – physically and mentally. There’s absolutely zero margin for error on some of the biggest features I’d ever seen. As challenging as it was, I’d love to push my career in this direction, more towards technical freeride in the future.”
