If you fancy a last minute trip to the Alps, you could do a lot worse than getting yourself a last minute entry to the classic Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB loop taking place 29th June to 1st July. Entries are almost full, so you’ll have to hurry, however.

With 80km of lift-assisted riding in the French and Swiss Alps, the Pass’Portes du Soleil is pretty much a rite of passage for any serious mountain biker thanks to a combination of festival-like atmosphere, plentiful food stops – wine and cheese anyone? – and loads of cracking riding.

As well as the classic loop, there’s loads of other stuff to do. You can take part in a night ride, stretch your legs with a hike or explore the expo areas and even demo bikes. There’s even the ‘ePass’Portes epowered by Bosch’ if you fancy a bit of battery assistance. Of course, it makes sense to make a week of it as the whole, huge lift area will open up for mountain biking after the event.

Flights are cheap and plentiful from across the UK into Geneva Airport and there’s plenty of local accommodation, from hotels to camping as you can start the ride from a number of different resorts in the area. Check out the local tourist board information for more details.

Registration closes at midnight on Tuesday the 5th of June so you’d better get your skates on.
