Well the ride went very well in my opinion. I thought I was going to have a bad day seeing as before I even got to the event I had a puncture
.
Weather stayed nice and clear throughout and those gravelly roads were not too bad really.
1st time I have done this ride, after missing out last year (but that is another story) and I was impressed with the organisation of everything, and the feed stations were very well stocked. However my only criticism of the whole ride was their placement, 1st at ?25miles? and then the 2bd at 52 miles. Which left me running on empty for a few miles and next year I will remember to stock up.
I was rather disappointed there were no stands for shops and things advertising stuff tho
Not that I can afford to buy but I like to look if you know what I mean.
Looking forward to next years ride already.
All credit to the organisers for keeping the weekend going, and having the sense to cancel Thursday's ride. They can't help gravel on the roads, it will take an army of sweepers to clear that it. Interesting to see how the races on Sunday go, maybe quite a few more chutes and tyre problems than usual!
Would have needed a pedalo if it was 48 hours later.
I wonder if I should take a spare tyre and hoop it around my shoulders like they used to do years ago in the TdF
... a lot of gravel and debris on the road - slight understatement - looks like a gravel lorry has shed its load!
