Airlok to hit market after beating Kickstarter target

Wall-mounted bike hanger-cum-lock is from team behind Hiplok

Airlok, the wall-mounted bike hanger that doubles as a lock, is to go into production after comfortably beating its fundraising target on Kickstarter.

Devised by the company behind the popular Hiplok, the security device, which will retail at £130, was on display at this week’s Cycle Show in Birmingham.

£70,000 had been sought through the crowdfunding website, but in the end 308 people pledged a total of £80,399 to enable Airlok to hit its goal.

Hiplok co-founder Ben Smith said:“We have been overwhelmed by the reaction from the hundreds of Kickstarter backers who have supported us in putting Hiplok’s first secure bike storage into production.”

His partner in the business, John Abrahams, added: “The reaction has proven the need for secure yet elegant bike storage. We have lots of ideas for developing the sector further but for now, we’re concentrating on getting the first Airloks to the very first customers.”
