We saw hundreds of bikes at last weekend's Berlin Bike Show – Berliner Fahrradschau – and here are some of the coolest looking.
• Standert Erdgeschoss
We really like the finish on this prototype Erdgeschoss cyclocross bike from Germany’s Standert. The frame is made in Italy from Columbus Life steel tubing, the fork is carbon, and it’s built up with a SRAM Force 1 drivetrain and Zipp 30 Course Disc clinchers.

• Brick Lane Bikes Aeon
The Aeon is a new carbon option from Brick Lane Bikes. As you can see, it uses a fixed gear. The wheel on the back is Brick Lane Bikes’ own Notorious 90 and that’s the brand’s new Z3 tri-spoke on the front.

• Bella Ciao
This bike is handmade in Italy from double butted Dedacciai steel tubing. That’s a 48-tooth Sturmey Archer chainset on there with an 18-tooth sprocket at the back.

• Bididu Cycles Righty
This is probably the only bike you’ll see today with a single-legged rigid fork. There’s something else really, really odd about this bike too, and that’s not even counting the disc rotors that look like they’re styled on the blade of a circular saw.
Yup, the chainset is on the left. Bididu makes some less crazy bikes too. www.bididu.lu
• DeGinder Cycle Manufactur
Berlin-based custom brand DeGinder Cycle Manufactur specialises in retro-style bikes. This lugged singlespeed has a number of unusual features including wooden rims.

• Viks stainless steel bike
Viks bikes, handmade in Estonia, have a dual frame – in that the top tube, head tube and down tubes are actually two tubes each – and there’s no seat tube.
The manufacturer reckons it takes about 60 steel pieces and two days to build each frame and another day to sandblast and finish it.

• Canyon’s Brooks 150th Anniversary bike
Brooks England is celebrating its 150th anniversary by enlisting 15 bike builders/brands to create a Brooks bicycle, and this is Canyon’s version. Each of the bikes has a copper theme, the copper rivet being an iconic feature of a Brooks saddle.
This Commuter is belt driven with Shimano disc brakes and an Alfine hub gear. Canyon’s VCLS seatpost is designed to provide extra comfort.

• Trek Emonda Project One
You can design your own paintwork and choose your own spec if you buy one of Trek’s higher end models and go through its Project One program. I wouldn’t say that this Emonda’s treatment is the most spectacular ever, but it demonstrates the scope of the system.

• Cannondale CAAD12 Stars and Stripes
We shown you this bike before but, hey, it’s worth a second look. This is a bespoke paintjob by Fatcreations.
• Diamant 019
Diamant, now part of Trek, has been making city bikes in Germany for well over a century. The 019 has a steel frame and fork, a Shimano Alivio 9-speed drivetrain, mechanical disc brakes and a bullhorn aluminium handlebar.

That Erdgeschoss cyclocross bike looks lovely apart from the carbon fork
Far too fat and looks out of place compared to the small tubing of the frame
Also the Bididu Cycles Righty actually has lhd cranks not the normal (for road/mtb bikes) rhd
The Viks stainless steel bike is beautiful!
Each to their own - I hate skinny metal forks myself and like the mix of smaller steel/larger carbon tubes... didn't like 'em 40 years ago, still don't today
([edit] snip - picture showed chainset on left but text wrong, mea culpa)
My first thought is that someone has made a bike out of a public cycle stand - but I also really like it too !
Bididu unusual chainset, "Yup, the chainset is on the right", would be more unusual if it's on the left surely?
Yeah, I got my words muddled, didn't I? Anyway, it's on the wrong side!
