Appeal launched to find one-off bike looted in York floods

Hub geared bike was taken from owner's house on Sunday evening...

An appeal has been launched on Facebook to try and find a custom bike that was looted from the owner's flooded home in York.

Posting on behalf of a friend to whom the distinctive bike - black, with an internal hub gear - belonged, Claire Shanks sent a message yesterday to the York Floods 2015 Help for the affected group on the social network, saying:

Last night (Sunday 3 January), between 8-11pm my friend's house was looted and their bike stolen from Yearsley Crescent (off Huntington Road) which was sadly flooded.

It is a distinctive bike, i.e. no branding as it has been built by hand so is of sentimental value. It is black with a black seat and chrome.

If you have any information about the possible whereabouts of the bike please either contact me or York Police Station (using the non-emergency number 101).

It would be greatly appreciated if you can share this on your Facebook pages too. Thank you for your help.

We've asked Claire if she can obtain further details of the bike from her friend, but in the meantime, as the saying goes, keep 'em peeled.
