There aren't that many features to look for in a decent short sleeved summer jersey, but the few there are are fairly important. The Fierlan Summer Short Sleeve Jersey manages to tick all the right boxes for features, and it feels and looks great too. For a British design, crafted in Italy, it's also pretty good value.
Made from an ultra-silky soft fabric with anti-bacterial properties, and using a full-length zip, this jersey is undeniably suited to the warmer months or hard effort rides.
It comes with three rear pouch pockets, one with a zipped security pocket with sweat-resistant lining that's just about right for an iPhone, and a silicone gripper tape at the hem to keep it in place when riding.
It's only available in one colour, but it's one that most will appreciate – a beautiful shade of blue with a subtle peachy accented collar. Wear it with the High Waisted Shorts, tested here.
The shape of the jersey shows the extent of Fierlan's commitment to producing good female-specific kit, with a contoured cut that nicely straddles performance and style, without looking unflattering. It's curvy without being too much so, and there's good length in the torso. The sleeves are a flattering and comfortable length, too, if slightly on the neat fitting side for larger biceps.
Out on the bike, the fabric wicked moisture effectively and super-quickly, keeping the body a steady and comfortable temperature. The full zip gave plenty of ventilation, and the hem gripper kept everything in place, even when on the drops. There were no gaps!
It was extremely comfortable to wear. Unlike some women's jerseys, the rear pockets are a decent size too, with enough space for a rolled-up gilet.
At £60 it's not a cheap jersey, but it's far from being up there with the most expensive either, and marks good value for money for a British designed, Italian manufactured garment from an independent boutique brand.
Verdict
An attractive, effective, stylish and flattering summer jersey designed in the UK exclusively for women

The fabric remains more odour free than usual thanks to the antibacterial properties but the soft silky fabric is prone to being savaged by velcro and can snag quiet easily.

Mid-priced in the grand scheme of things, but actually very good value when you consider it's a small UK based brand and uses high end fabrics from Italy.
