Sir Bradley Wiggins will again take part in the Revolution Series when the second round gets underway in Manchester on October 24. Unlike in Derby, where he raced for Great Britain, this time around he will be representing the team to which he has lent his name.
The British Cycling team which included Wiggins won the team pursuit at the opening round of the Revolution Series in Derby in August and he then went on to win the Madison in partnership with Mark Cavendish.
However, round two marks the start of the Elite Championship, in which Team Wiggins will be competing against Team Sky, JLT Condor, One Pro Cycling, Orica GreenEDGE and defending champions Maloja Pushbikers, among others.
“I’m looking forward to representing Team Wiggins in the Revolution Championship. The next event comes in the middle of a busy period between the Euro Track Championships and Cali World Cup so hopefully I’ll have some good form going into the Revolution event and we can get some points on the board.”
Wiggins will be joined by team-mate Owain Doull, who was third overall and won the points classification in this year’s Tour of Britain. Other riders due to take part include Ed Clancy (JLT Condor) and Adam Blythe (Orica GreenEDGE).
Following the announcement of a new TV deal with Eurosport, each of this season’s Revolution Series events will be televised. Round two will be on Eurosport 1 from 6.45pm to 9pm on October 24.
David Kerr, managing director of British Eurosport said:
"Having been to previous Revolution events, I know what a fantastic atmosphere there is in the velodrome and we hope to be able to bring plenty of exciting racing and a taste of that atmosphere to cycling fans who cannot get along to the events.
“As the road cycling season draws to a close, it is good to be able to offer cycling fans a strong schedule of both track cycling and cyclo cross to reinforce our position as ‘the home of cycling’."
Further Revolution Series events will take place in London and Glasgow in November; and then in Manchester twice more in January. More information can be found on the Revolution website.
