Froome is picking up so many points on flat stages in this race!
66th on the stage puts me 29th overall, must be my highest in a Grand Tour but still 80 behind Mr Ratcliffe. Make that 90 including the ten pens I've taken for tomorrow...
should be done in a mo. connection's a bit ropey here
Its not me updating
I basically have my two transfers ive brought in + Martin and Caruso who I expect to go well tomorrow, and hopefully Mas in the break.
Im likely to keep the same team for 7, as I have Degenkolb, Martens and Monodry still, as well as Reynes, and that then gives me 2 transfers to bring in Bouhanni + another for stage 8 and be able to get rid of them + 2 other transfers for stage 9.
Take off my 10 penalties and I still have a 41 point buffer over 2nd, and if my transfers in place well, im likely to still be pushing the top after tomorrow even if I don't lead, as anyone who did well today and is near the top is likely to need a penalty or two as I doubt they have 6 saved up (as you have 6, but are nearly 200 behind, so your not gonna make that up in 1 stage)
Oh had I kept my team the same as stage 4 and not brought in Caruso and Martin, id have won the stage by 6 points, would have lead by 85 points, and had 2 transfers saved. That decision could end up costing me the vuelta, a long way to I know, but its always the small decisions like that
You've got a strategy that just might keep your challengers at bay... Who's doing the updating you or dave?...

3 transfers made, 10 penalties, 1 of those in though was Reynes, ready for stage 7/8 maybe and to accomodate my other 2 in's, Bouhanni and Matthews out
Makes my 8 transfers seem a trifle excessive.
But I've decided to go for some alternative riders. What could go wrong.
Lawson Craddock (GSH)
Adam Yates (OGE)
Rohan Dennis (BMC)
Fabian Cancellara (TFR)
Dario Cataldo (SKY)
Jurgen Van Den Broeck (LTB)
Luke Rowe (SKY)

Dan Craven (EUC)
joel, please get in touch with dave, gkam may have hacked into your account...
Too true. There is one jewel in there tho'.
Yates. I hope he comes in 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th for you... at least a Top 10...
I think Gkam, a couple of years ago, used to put up fake teams , if I remember correctly. We'd find out the next day, of course, that he really hadn't put up the team he 'shared' previously... 'Uncle Orli' would approve...
I guess we will see tmw then.
Who's on scoring today?...
Must be Dave, id do it, but im on my way out to the football now
not to bad today with 1,3,11,13 +mas and martin. 6 changes for tomorrow with no penalties.
Now that worries me! Alot! 6 free transfers
makes me question how to play this
Go for the jugular! Do 6 transfers, too! You'll have pulled a 'Nibali' early on! Nobody'll catch you! You''ll be able to waltz through to the end of the competition! You'll become a legend in the game! Do it!
I picked my team for stage 2 onwards and as luck would have it they have done quite well hence the build up of transfers. They've all gone now so penalty time shortly i think.
2,3,4,11,13 +mas
Who's going to go for Bertie then?
Also no transfers carried over but with a flat stage 8, im tempted to just make the two anyway, as I already have D Martin now
Looks like it will cost me 37 points Had a 25 point lead, 29 over 3rd.... Neither had Hofland, and 3rd had Stuyven and Debusschere, and neither had Martens or Mondory who I had (this after yesterdays stage), so should hold the lead, but I could have had a massive lead. 6th was the closest with both and Mondory, but he had no Martens, so may have my lead cut to 10/15 points
Ended up with 1,2,5,6,11,17 + Mas, Gatto and D Martin
8 transfers done. 3 penalties.
Unlucky TER, still going strong though. I got 1,2,3,8 plus Matthews (11/12th I think) and bits for my two cajas. Higher than I should be really, hopefully take advantage of transfers in hand for tomorrow...
I would have had 1,2,3,4,5,6.......what a bad mistake!!!! Will have to settle for 1,2,5,6
First mistake ive made, dropping Hofland and Stuyven....I dropped them for Caruso and Martin
Damn...
Top 20 and Lanterne Rouge. Complete results for the stage and the race are up already at lavuelta.com.

First thing I thought when I saw the result was damn, TER's got both of those, but I had Stuyven only. Got rid of Hofland but Boonen's puncture may have cost me a few points. Gilbert finally got some points after I dumped him as well. You never know with those two!
