@Bompton rider (I think we have run out of levels for a reply!) Indeed, crossing or no crossing, one should be mindful of pedestrians (& others) and expect the unexpected. Or in your case the expected. What has changed is the suggestion (in the HC) that you "should" stop if you believe they might wish to step out. That was, I think, understood in years gone by, with out being specifically highlighted.
I like the chain stay protector.
Cycling in Paris this evening, many bikes and escooters don't take any notice of the red lights. A number of bikes do stop, but not many.

No, I didn't think you were suggesting that. And I feel the same on a bike sometimes. Particularly when the sun is low and I hear cars braking late behind me.
Having watched a couple of episodes of Police, Camera, Action. I'm eagerly awaiting the Police call to close the M62.
@Mr Blackbird I'm not suggesting they shouldn't be there at all, merely that as a single cyclist at the edge of the road travelling between 20-30kph I still feel vulnerable. I would not feel comfortable on a horse at all.

It’s a smoke screen. They may not have known about Froome’s drug use, but they must have known about Israel’s human rights violations and occupation of Palestinian territories?
They choose the day before the most politically controversial start to a grand tour to complain about this. I smell a rat!
