Good effort! Looks like our paths were not far apart! I’m just back from 7 days walking the Dales High Way and it appears that on the day you came through Orton I was, only the night before, camped up on the top of a minor hill covered with limestone pavement just a few miles east. I got home just the day before the heavy rain set in. I wish you similar luck!

    “Using a phone whilst driving

“Using a phone whilst driving is dangerous – even more so in this scenario where drivers are likely to be further distracted by the collision scene.

“Those drivers we caught will now pay the penalty both financially and with points on their licence – and if anyone was a new driver who has passed in the last two years, then six points means they will lose their licence.”

They should contact Lancashire Constabulary with this shocking news- who would have known that this is an offence?!

    Well, after many years

Well, after many years braving the Scottish Midge Season, it’s my opinion that they’re not at all the same as mosquitos, and my guess that the suggested repellent will have no effect at all. A misty wet evening with no wind will soon answer the question! Late May/ Early June 2023 was the best Skye No-Midge season I have ever experienced (starting June 71), owing to the dry conditions and good breezes, and even camping at Loch Coruisk was enjoyable. I think it’s the weather, not the shower gel which decides

This is a major test on the seriousness of the Labour government with a massive majority: ignore the Tory hyper-junk press pretending to be in favour of ‘The People’ and go ahead with this abolition of the massive subsidy to drivers at the expense of everybody else.

Thanks for the advance warning. The only proper such episode I have experienced in Lancashire, apart from the nutters shouting out the window, was from the close passing driver of BMW PK14 HLW in August 21 who claimed to have ‘given me 1.5 metres’ and threatened to ‘fucking flatten’ me and to knock me off my bike, when I caught him up at some road works. It was all on video, but it took over 6 weeks to receive a reply from the police. The officer claimed to have been temporarily transferred to another station! The result was: ‘he shouldn’t have spoken to you like that’.

    Police are now encouraging

Police are now encouraging the public to call as soon as possible if they witness anti-social driving or people wearing balaclavas while driving

What, so they can have a good laugh in the Control Room before they write ‘Too Busy on other priorities’ in the log and bin the report?

Sadly, many people think LancsFilth are embarrassed by ‘this sort of thing’. They’re not. They have survived many years of a policy of completely ignoring road traffic offences, they survived the Nicola Bulley debacle, etc. and they have (or, possibly, had) a compliant and useless PCC and very low expectations from a public which is also anti-cyclist.

I think even Lancashire Constabulary would have trouble getting that Paragon of Evil off- however, they’re still working away in the background forgiving driving offenders by simply ignoring the reports because ‘everybody does it’. This driver of PK55 FXA, dead cert for 6 points if Mikey had reported him to the Met, has a young boy in the passenger seat, probably no seat belts on either of them (I’m not sure about that) and is definitely using a handheld mobile phone while driving (at exactly the same location where I recently showed an Amazon driver ‘on the phone’)- I could even hear him speaking through the open window. In Lancashire, the police will try to ensure that drivers don’t have any problems

My area (Bristol East) had Greens come relatively close second place and of course, they won quite decisively in Bristol Central

Yes, I was quite impressed by that- I think the Greens would get an even higher vote % if people accepted they were in with a chance in more seats. That increased visibility would help cyclists against the overwhelming ‘idle vote’ of the motorists.

Well go on then! I see that the centre of that alloy wheel shows he’s guilty of multiple offences of many types every day but tell us the crack 24/7 Police Motorist Offence Excuses Squad said they ‘couldn’t take action’ because: he’s stationary in a traffic queue so it doesn’t count; it could be only a pretend tablet which doesn’t work; he’s looking out the window at you so not interacting with the device; there’s an ‘r’, ‘a’ or ‘j’ in the month; he doesn’t remember using the tablet in the car; we in this Constabulary don’t agree that it’s an offence; we had a word with him and he apologises and says he won’t do it again; he only looks at the tablet for a moment so it’s only a momentary lapse of attention on the road; we’re so busy on manpower-intensive operations to combat the cycling menace, that we have no time to waste on trivial non-offences etc etc

    Last night I was taking

Last night I was taking photos of flower beds for ‘Bloom’ down at the village hall where the Polling Station was. Despite a turnout of only 58%, it was very busy with an incessant turnover of cars queing up, voters coming out of them and then driving off again. I saw no other cyclists and very few pedestrians. There’s no Active Travel at all up here- it’s midsummer and I rarely see any cyclists.

According to the binomial distribution calculator at WolframAlpha, the probability of getting 43 out of 50 in a single test with 1/4 chance on each question is 1.819e-19
