    Your main and almost

Your main and almost insuperable problem is the almost limitless tolerance and sympathy the police display towards motorists, especially in their interactions with us ‘rats of the road’. WU59 UMH is well known to the police and to my fans on here having today achieved a landmark 7 full years without VED. Didn’t quite make the 7 years without MOT, but was driving around for 6 months after an MOT failed for several “dangerous” defects. It was regularly parked for hours at a time, including most of last Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, outside the pub 150 yards from the police station. If only there was some way for the crack Police Squad to locate the vehicle and owner and view the MOT and VED history of the vehicle! The trailer does not, of course, display a number plate

You didn’t mention The Scottish Dodge, whereby if, by witchcraft, you manage to force your HD video upon the reluctant Scottish Police and they visit the Alleged Offender: the AO only has to state that he doesn’t recall the incident for the SP to NFA the report

after I said that if they

after I said that if they wouldn’t tell me the outcome of a submission I would have to make an FOI request for it

This has been discussed at length before, but it’s a lot to read. I don’t think the police are worried by threats to make FoI requests because they will simply refuse them. Here is the Information Commissioner’s Decision Notice on my attempt to expose the police lying about taking action over this case. They did essentially nothing- most likely a joke advice letter

This proposed Met scheme to reveal all follows the Northamptonshire Police equivalent, which I was informed about by HoarseMann last year. There’s a mass of information in there, but without the reference you won’t find out much- nearly all of the offences against cyclists will be shown at the top end of the spreadsheet if it’s sorted ‘Ascending’ on the Offence Description column, but they’ll be hidden under the great mass of ‘Driving without due care and attention’ and you won’t be able to find ones involving cyclists. I haven’t spent much time on this because what I want is information on Lancashire Constabulary- and they’re prepared to spend an almost infinite amount of time and money on making sure I don’t get it.

    Just remember the LancsFilth
Just remember the LancsFilth Dodge! They refused to tell me what they actually DID when they claimed they would take action after a gross offence by a bus driver. FoI, ICO, Information Tribunal procedure terminated by the Upper Tier Tribunal when I was refused leave to appeal there. That takes ages so I’m going to repeat the FoI request soon. They’re prepared to spend all that time and effort refusing – obviously because what they did was send the joke advice letter or did nothing at all. They don’t like lying in print!

YOU’VE RUINED MY LIFE!  WHAT FOR?!

So, like the Brexit vote, the dimwits hit out at some group they have no intention of ever joining- it’s those cyclists and all those expensive empty cycle lanes

    in other cycling cases, they

in other cycling cases, they’ve been dropped before trial b/c a prosecutor gets hold of the file & can back down

This fiction that it’s ‘all the decision of the CPS’ is just another police dodge, so they can blame some un-named person elsewhere for the police decision to abandon the case against an offending motorist – the police just tell the CPS what the police ‘want to be advised’ in cases of offences against cyclists which neither organisation could care less about. However, the general venality and hostility to cyclists displayed by the police should not be underestimated when cases against cyclists are concerned. Although this case appears exceptionally stupid even for the police, we should not forget how much they dislike cyclists who annoy them by reporting, with high quality indisputable evidence, offences committed by motorists that they would much prefer to ignore with a forgiving smile: that’s OK, everybody does it

Surprising- Honda drivers are usually careful, although prone to confuse the brake and accelerator in EVs and smashing down the public toilets (I actually saw this happen here).

The driver claims he “accidentally stepped on the gas too hard”

We can expect to see this regularly, along with ‘I didn’t see him’, ‘I didn’t mean to do it’ and ‘I don’t remember it at all, but I’m fine to drive in future’ in accounts of drivers who trash people and buildings and get away with it.

    Utter muppets

A bit harsh! How can drivers be expected to know that fog, sunshine, rain, dark etc. should modify their usual ‘foot down and accelerate out of trouble’ practice.

True- nothing works here owing to the determinedly anti-cyclist police b******s. This is the Stagecoach 42 bus this afternoon

Furious residents claim they have been blocked in their driveways

Surely, the founder member of the hyper-junk press hasn’t let its readers down by failing to include ‘trapped in their homes’?! Naturally, I’m not intending to find out directly

What this boils down to is

What this boils down to is the police trying to frighten people they don’t like, cyclists reporting offences with good evidence, off – all to the benefit of people they do like, who are hard-working motorists who are otherwise law-abiding who accidentally committed a trivial offence where the cyclist wasn’t even KSI’d.

I did think it would be very difficult for me to despise the police any more- difficult, but not impossible as this case demonstrates. It all resembles the police and hyper-junk press outrage at cyclists passing traffic lights at red, with demands that the full wrath of the law be set upon them, while these offences below go completely ignored, and therefore approved, by Lancashire police because ‘everybody does it’

    I suffered a close pass by a
I suffered a close pass by a BMW driver 2 or 3 years ago. 10 yards later he was stopped by temporary lights. It’s all on video: there’s no swearing at all by me, and he threatened to “fucking flatten” me and “you WILL be knocked off” your bike. The PC who was allocated the case almost immediately claimed to have been transferred to another station. I kept on harping on about it and over a month later, I received an email from the officer saying “I have spoken to the driver. He shouldn’t have spoken to you like that”. No mention of the close pass- all on video. That was it. This horror of swearing displayed by these precious, sheltered officers is simply a dodge which is only applied to cyclists and is transparently designed to get drivers off offences the police refuse to accept as ‘real’.
