    Doesn’t sound like a good

Doesn’t sound like a good experience.

    A couple of generic thoughts.

    • Although lots of replies talk about how easy it is to do yourself (and I don’t doubt they are right) if you don’t have the time, inclination and don’t get the satidfaction some do by taking on BB replacements and the like you may not want to.
    • Find a mechanic or LBS you can really talk to.  I don’t particularly like bike fetling (I know others do). I prefer spending my limited free time riding the bike not working on it.  After a bit of searching and trial and error I now have a place I can go to where they know my name, know I am repeat custom and and I can discuss how much work is really needed and exactly when I need I need it done by.

I know that I could save a few pounds taking on more myself, but I value the opinion of someone who has much more experience than me and the fact that I don’t need to spend Saturday afternoon replacing bearings.

Different models work for different people.  Find one that fits with your own inclinations.

Roster change emails: I just received my eighth identical email from Rcc saying the same 3 riders were removed from the Classics roster. I appreciate the update, but eight times?

I suspect each time the roster list in the game is updated you get an automatic EM.  I don’t mind as it shows that someone is trying to get the start lists as correct as possible and are trying to be diligent.

You will just have to change your team!   I’ll be more pissed off if I get one now as I have made my changes for tomorrow already.

Yes, but will he sprint or will it be all for Bennett.  Expensive mistake if he doesn’t go for it, or a missed opportunity if he does.

OK, a mistake. Did have the podium though, but plenty others did too.

    I have the Northwave

I have the Northwave Fahrenheit 2 GTX , but ordinary version not the Arctic version.

I have ridden in them for around 6 Scottish winters and they are still in good condition, wore them this morning for the commute.

I have found them warm enough for anything I would cycle in, including rides around freezing.  Even with decent gloves I usually find my fingers are the problem before my toes.  They are way better and simpler than overshoes.

I bought a pair with sufficient room for a decent thick pair of socks, too tight and you restrict the blood flow and end up colder, so consider sizing.

They are excellent for road spray etc, but they have the same problems all boots and shoes have – water runs down your legs into the boots and you wil get wet feet if it is a wet day.

These versions are available at the moment in a couple of places at £100 if you can find your size.  I would say good value at that.

Thanks everyone for the comments.  I tried the undelete tools referred to here and elsewhere from a Google search, but it is as if the file never existed.  Garmin did get back to me and told me there was nothing that could be done.  So the ride is lost.  Not the end of the world, but a bit annoying.  I have got over it though and will have to do that route again.

Monday and Tuesday commutes downloaded just fine.

not convinced of the need for any more

later on in the year there’s a bunch of races that may or may not work together as a competition

29 July Clásica Ciclista San Sebastian (Spain)
30 July Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic (Great Britain)
    20 August Cyclassics Hamburg (Germany)
    27 August Bretagne Classic – Ouest-France (France)
08 September Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec (Canada)
10 September Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal (Canada)
    30 September Il Lombardia (Italy)

historically we’ve tried a number of things with these races. thoughts?

Spring Classics looks good.  Not sure tha late summer / autumn races work as well, but if we give it a go I would play.
