I was cautious too with all the breakaway predictions. Carapaz was my error. On the positive side I am well set for tomorrow.

Whether he believes that or is saying because he thinks it will go down well with the Tory member I don’t know, but when you think that through both options are terrifying.

I have been distracted for much of the last few weeks and the game has taken a back seat. It kind of shows in my TdF performance. Missing the deadline on the Friday TT stage post General Election while on holiday kicked the stuffing out of me for a bit too.
On the positive side, don’t have the lack of transfer anxiety I would usually have.

My experience is that you can buy a new bike to the value of the scheme limit after the 12 month period ends, regardless of the extended hire period.
I suppose the only caveat is the much ignored requirement that the bike should be primarily used for cycling to work.

A couple of years ago I had similar problems on my commuter. Cheap factory made rim brake wheels. A succession of front wheel punctures. Checked carefully for the bit of glass or whatever in the tyre each time. Changed the tyre and then clocked that all the puntures were on the rim side. Removed the plastic strip, put old fashined rim tape on and the problem was resolved.
No obvious sharp edge when the plastic was present. I suspect you don’t need muc of one though.

Careful you might conflate a one-off capital cost with an annual cost.
And, the full cost of a paramedic is alot more that just the wage of the person doing the job.

I am a bit confused by your stance on this. I don’t live in Wales and I wish the Nation I live in had adopted this policy when it had the chance, but at least for now, that didn’t happen.
What is bothering you most?
- The concept
- The way it was implented
- The fact that it was a Labour administration that implemented it.
- Or that cars were not slowed by more than 2.9mph
Slowing and removing cars from places that pedestrians (never mind cyclists) are vulnerable will be the 21st Century equivalent of the smoking ban. Lots of noise and complaints before it happens. Once it is in place, nobody will seriously argue to remove it.
Devolution is the same, certainly in Scotland. There is no serious political force that looking to remove it.

Yes, I think it is annual problem. Also, we will be searching for information on crash victims I suspect. I hope all the riders that fell are OK.

I had a shocker of a week.
I had a shocker of a week. The end of the Dauphine and the TdS coincided with a hectic time for me. Slumped down the overall rankings missing deadlines etc.PS I had risen to fourth before my difficult week!
So, cancelling the TdS results would significantly advantage my position. I don’t, however, see that as a credible solution to a frustrating race.
For those of us working in the UK in ‘normal office hours’ the deadlines can be a challenge. I sometimes have internet access, sometimes work gets in the way. I have just accepted this. Deciding on transfers the night before is often necessary.
I am happy just to live with the frustrations.

Another Giro done. A slow
Another Giro done. A slow burner in terms of the GC, but still lots of of other drama (Gee, Pinot, Leknessund, Cav, Armirail etc).
In Fantasy terms, I have the usual sob stories of choosing the right riders, but just on the wrong days.
Interesting how looking back you see which bets pay off and the ones that didn’t.
I think Leknessund surprised. His long run in pink meant he was a good pick as soon as he led the GC and the Young rider competitions. He didn’t make it into as many teams as I thought and we all tried to pick the stage to jetison if we did bring him in.
In hindsight Derek Gee should have been a pick. Not a rider I ever got in to my team. If there had been more budget pressure (Remco) I suspect he would have gone into lots of teams and never come out.
Sprinters were a challenge with no dominant rider. For Nico Denz to have two stage wins and no sprinter doubling up was not something I saw coming.
I thought managing to have four transfers for the final stage was good, but looks like many of the top players had a few more. Well done for not sliding to the temptation to make ‘just one more change’ on a few stages.
A few days breather before we go again in the Dauphine. Week long tours keep the hand in, but this game is made for the Grand Tours.
