Thanks for starting the competition.
I assume that Intermarche-Wanty & Arkea teams are missing becuase they were late finalising their line-ups.
Best of luck to everyone ☺

Carapaz had Powless drop back
Carapaz had Powless drop back to help him over to the break but he did do a fantastic job in getting the KoM points and a fourth place. His reward was the polka dot jersey. Jorgenson effectively got nothing from the stage when he was at the front from the very start until 2k from the finish. The Combativity would have been the natural way to say ‘Chapeau’ to him. Having said all that, I won’t turn down the extra 10:points.

I didn’t see the start. Didn’t Carapaz have to chase the break down solo, that plus all the mountain points he collected, I guess.
I wasn’t expecting him to win it either.

Combativity to Carapaz? What
Combativity to Carapaz? What more could Jorgenson have done to earn it today? It is a baffling decision. He won it last year when he got hunted down by Woods up the Puy de Dome and today was an even more valiant effort.

I’m down to 3 which hopefully
I’m down to 3 which hopefully will see me through. Final TT looks to be one for the climbers so I’m not planning big changes. I’ve blown my chances in the TdF so I’ll just soft pedal to the finish now! You know it’s not your race when you take Turgis out & he picks up 14 in the intermediate! Shaping up to be a cracking stage though.

Have I counted wrongly, or
Have I counted wrongly, or are you guys down to 3 and 1 transfers respectively? That’s a bit risky and doesn’t allow much (any) flexibility.

I had to decide between Cort
I had to decide between Cort & Matthews this morning. Naturally I got the wrong one! At least Matthews didn’t win but those intermediate sprint points hurt you.

My latest gamble didn’t come
My latest gamble didn’t come off

I was hoping Gee and Butriago would get some freedom in Stage 17 & 18 but the safe bet of Vingeggaard + 3.0 rider proved the better option.

They spent a lot of energy
They spent a lot of energy for no reward. Their plan seemed flawed from the start. You are right, the only chance of cracking Pogacar is on stages 19 & possibly 20 so save any master plan till then. Yesterday and today should be about getting the right rider up the road to contest the win.

The profile was similar to
The profile was similar to Stage 11 and it was a hot day, so maybe they thought Pogacar would have problems today too. If so they are clutching at straws.
If they hope to win, stage 19 is the best option with all the climbs at altitude where Pogacar can have problems, although Vingegaard himsef did struggle at altitude on Stage 4.
Or maybe Vingeggaard was feeling bad and wanted helpers up the road because of that.

Vista seemed to pick the
Visma seemed to pick the wrong stage to send Laporte, WvA and Benoot up the road. Tomorrow’s profile suits them way better. Kelderman and Jorgenson were the obvious ones to race for the win today. If the plan was to have helpers up the road for a Vingegaard attack then that went wrong apart from the fact that they helped limit his losses. Evenepoel was probably the happiest of the GC riders today.

What a crazy stage today.
What a crazy stage today.
What were Jumbo Visma trying to do?
Only one of my team made the break which was a disappointment. As usual when I don’t pick Simon Yates he does well.
I was surprised not to see some of the lower GC riders not trying for the break.

Just noticed on the Stages
Just noticed on the Stages page of the game that the final stage is a bit tougher than we have been led to believe….. an ITT from Monaco to Paris! That’s pretty old school and gives Remco a chance to snatch yellow by an hour or two!

I was having nightmares last
I was having nightmares last year as we were on holiday on the West then the East of the USA in October. Il Lombardia wasn’t a major issue but I was absolutely dreading the Tour of Guangxi. Trying to work out the start time for a Chinese race whilst in San Francisco for a couple of stages and then in New York for the rest was causing me major stress. I was mightily relieved when it was removed from the game!
