Exercise caution …

The action of one lazy
The action of one lazy motorist *should* reflect on all … but it doesn’t as more people are able to identy with being a motorist and not a cyclist.
People that just drive cars tend to see us as one group; we know that that is bollocks because we regularily increase our brain power by exercising out in the fresh air.
It matters not what we know; it’s what the *others* think … and if they see one cyclist dropping a gel, then we are all tarred with the same brush — RLJ but for litter.

Leaving aside the appalling
Leaving aside the appalling decision from the police …
Do you have legal cover on your household insurance?
I know you’ve said about going through the Union, but if you have legal cover, then talk to them; you will probably need their support in dealing with the insurance company.I take it you’re submitting a claim on the other person’s insurance?
There maybe some tooing and froing, and probably mutterings about contributory negligence – that’s why you need to get legal support.Get the claim in as soon as possible … You’ll probably have more success with that than fighting the police, and it’ll have the added bonus of putting the other person’s insurance up for the next five years or so.

Update:
Update:
Got my trailer 2 weeks ago.
Needed a new axle – so many thanks to the guys below for recommending a supplier. Had the usual arse twich first time I put the axel in as the thread wouldn’t turn after about 2 turns – took it out and fed it through from the mech side and everything was fine (probably a bit of crap in the thread from the old axel).Used it twice now for the weekly shop (3mile round trip, with 1/2 mile 4% climb on the way back)…
First time nearly killed me, but then that was on the back of a 50mile club ride – lesson learned.
Used it today … Strong headwinds on the way to the shop; trailer handled it well, but does bounce a bit when empty (to be expected), and it takes a bit of practice to match the cadence and gears to stop overspeed.
Coming back, trailer behaved better loaded; up to 23mph (with a gusty tailwind) on the way back (enough shopping to last the family of 6 for the week) and it wasn’t fazed. In all, the actual journey part took about 7mins longer (round trip) than if I’d took the car.
Putting the trailer together and hitching it up takes a few minutes, but less time than demisting the windscreen on the car.
The routine will get more polished the more I do it, and the easier it becomes the more likely I am to keep doing it.Thanks guys for the encouragement, as I drive a big diesel van, it’s already starter re-paying for it’s self.
Total outlay – <ÂŁ170

hawkinspeter wrote:Thanks – that’d work but is only half the solution and 3d printing isn’t cheap, so I’d prefer something moulded instead. I’ve found a Cycliq accessory pack on EBay that’s cheaper then buying from Cycliq and most importantly doesn’t have a ÂŁ25 postage charge.Any chance you can share the link to that pack please?

And I agree … the Cycliq
And I agree … the Cycliq mounts are useless … they’ve gone for an over-complex design that has too many stress points.
I find the 1/8 turn a pain in the arse, but the mounts – including the action cam mount – could have been designed with reinforcement around the stress points; just like the Garmin mount has.Oldfatgit
The link above meant the link
The link above meant the link in your OP .. sorry for any confusion.

The link above shows a Cycliq
The link above shows a Cycliq female and an action cam connector … Given the wide range of action cam fittings that are cheaply available, could you use that instead? If that model of the Fly6 has the Garmin style ÂĽ turn (instead of the proxy â…› turn), there are several ÂĽ turn action cam fittings available.
(Sorry I can’t be much more help, Ive got the older Fly6 which was held on with bands. I stuck a ÂĽ turn connector to my Fly12 and use that instead of the â…› turn)

I use PlotARoute (pro edition ‘cos it’s like a tenner).
Manual route plotting is excellent, with different degrees of snap to route.
I’ve not used it to decide a route for me – I’d rather plot it myself.I’m not here to sell it, but I would recommend it to anyone that plots their own routes.

I’m glad to read that you’re mainly ok.I had a few broken ribs (11, tbh) when I got knocked off (loads of other injuries too) … and they *hurt*.
What ever you do, try not to sneeze …
Hopefully, your recovery time will be less than mine was, and that you’ll be able to get back on your bike.

Magic, thanks Tom.
Magic, thanks Tom.
Bit too small to get both in.Our normal most of the week shop pretty much fits in these crates, so if I’m able to use them, it’ll make life easier 🙂
Don’t want to be in a situation where I’ve brought too much and can’t get it back home ?

Magic, thank you.
I’d use my normal axles when not towing, especially when gravel as I wouldn’t want to catch the hitch on anything

I’ve bit the bullet and
I’ve bit the bullet and ordered a replacement axle that’s designed to cope.
I’d rather part with a few quid now than an expensive rebuild / replace later 🙂
