I’m gonna say that in your
I’m gonna say that in your email [as posted above], direction of travel is ambiguous.

‘Coming 2 or 3 abreast could be interpreted as from behind or from the front.
A simple “towards me” or from “behind me” would have removed any ambiguity and made the riders actions harder to defend.

It reads to me like the respondent has chosen to take the ‘from behind, hence the explanation.

As a regular club rider of both road and gravel, I would have expected –
From behind: nose [or equivalent], single up, keep right
From approach: nose [or equivalent], single up, keep left

True, there are accompanying hand signals, but if your gonna shout … you shout properly.

I have mine on an under-seat
I have mine on an under-seat mount … because of the way Cycliq have made their action cam mount, you might need to put a small spacer bar between the two.
I’ve never got the straps on the Cycliq seat post to work securely enough, and much prefer the action cam mounts.

The ones from the rear light
The ones from the rear light can be pretty stunning … you can’t see Jack, but they look great.

There’s a level of water on the lens that produces really interesting shapes around light sources – some are sort of like this ? – that move independently to the direction of travel.

I think that if you were under an altered mental state through chemical assistance, they would totally blow your mind …

    Can’t really do (1) as I’m in
Can’t really do (1) as I’m in Scotland and it would mean I’d never get out ?

Already do (2). Might have adjust the angle (unit is only ever in “camera only”.

    Totally agree with (3).

I think I have some windscreen clear stuff somewhere… I’d forgotten about it and will go a spray hunt over the weekend

“So, the question remains; do you let the driver do it through their car insurance ”

If you are asking on behalf of the cyclist who caused the collision … this is not their call to make.
This is the call of the driver to make.

As a driver, I would *have* no choice to report the collision or risk voiding the insurance .. so if I’ve got to report it, might as well let the insurance company pursue the claim and take away the stress.

    I am totally confused.
    I am totally confused.

Are you asking on behalf of the car driver or the cyclist?

If obo the car driver … then go through the car insurance as it *has* to be reported to them anyway.

How they pursue the cyclist is not the drivers (or your) concern.

If a sum of money has been agreed between the driver and the cyclist to make good, then insurance is a null point … but the driver still *has* to notify their insurance and advise no claim.

No insurers will honour an agreement that has been made outside of their claim system between two individuals.

    Get the drivers insurance to
Get the drivers insurance to talk to your [*] home insurance.

That’s what you have public liability cover on your insurance for.

The drivers insurance will have to prove to the over insurers that the costs are proportional to the damage.

Do not offer to pay out your own pocket.

[*] use of you etc for ease.

    Weren’t people buying SUVs as
Weren’t people buying SUVs as manufacturers had cut back making ‘traditional’ cars and leaving MPVs as separate vehicles?

Wasn’t the traditional body shape dropped because it was cheaper to build one vehicle – the SUV – than build a saloon and a MPV?

    Mine …
    Mine …
Basso Vega with a Polini motor.
Great bike … battery is good for over 100 miles in level 1 dynamic mode.
Polini have 3 modes … Touring, Dynamic and Race, and each mode has 5 different levels of assistance, with Level 5 being programmable from the app.
In Level 5 and in Race, the motor provides 100% assistance from the moment you move – which is great for getting off the line at traffic lights in the city.
Has the normal restrictions of 15.5mph motor cut out.
Can take mudguards and panniers… I use it for normal road riding, commute and with a quick change of wheels, gravel riding.

My other bike is a Cannodale Synapse Neo 2 with the Bosch motor. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, fantastic bike … riden over 10,000 miles on it… but compared to the Vega, its slow, heavy and unfortunately not as nice to ride. ?

    Thank you.
    Thank you.
I’m well versed in realignment as I swap two wheelsets over [Road and Gravel] so I don’t have to keep changing tyres.

This would just give me a greater degree of flexibility without putting (another) hole in my pocket

My commute home is 40 miles

My commute home is 40 miles door to door, and mainly runs alongside the main Edinburgh <> Glasgow railway.

I tend to look at my route on Headwind before committing; a wind from the East will be mainy headwind home. I’ll then look at windspeed and estimated gust speed.
anything over 15mph constant and 25mph gust, I’ll normally get the train.
[Although I do get caught out. Wednesday last week, wind from the east, constant speed of 18mph … thought I’d give it a go. 6 miles in, it was horrific so I aborted and got the train. Turns out that was the right thing as gusts speeds exceeded 40mph.)

Rain doesn’t worry me too much – depending on where I am.
I’m more likely to give up and get the train if I’m soaked before I’ve left Glasgow – especially this time of year. There is no fun riding 35-40 miles in the cold and dark, especially if you don’t have to.

I have winter Marathons with studs … great fun in the snow. Yet to try them on the commute and not sure I’d want to ride the full 40 miles on them … they are noisy and not sure what 40miles of tarmac will do to them
