Any repairs you attempt to make will surely void any warranty claim, so I’d leave that until you are 100% certain that Scott or your LBS isn’t going to help out.It p*sses me off when shops pull out an excuse for it not being their problem. Them not being Scott dealers anymore isn’t your problem, but your problem is definitely theirs.
Take as many pictures as you can before you send it anywhere.

All those little 6-for-£1
All those little 6-for-£1 breakfast snack bars in the supermarket, plus malt loaf, fig rolls and bananas. Energy bars just taste like premium-priced cardboard.Electrolyte drinks though, are ace. If I don’t get my fill of salts, the cramps and headache are awful. Although this can mean that I treat myself to crisps instead.

My missus thinks it looks horrific. She’d want me to tell her, but I doubt she would be happy with a stranger telling her. I think her view is that any self-respecting woman would check before she left the house.notfastenough
Can well understand why it
Can well understand why it would scare you, but unfortunately rather more common than it should be. What’s the limit on that road? The problem is that, in trying to be courteous (I’m sometimes as guilty as anyone of this), you left enough room for them to pass without moving over the white line. Thus, they try it, and it’s you that gets squeezed. Presumably riding in primary position (or at least further out) would help, by forcing the driver to think about the overtake (as they’d need to move into the oncoming lane).Don’t let it put you off!

Interestingly, when Sean Yates left he made a comment that a Sky no longer had anyone who knew that much about bike racing. I guess that’s what happens when you bin all the former/suspected dopers!notfastenough

I’m fine with Blaze, but Pym’s chair was a bit much in March. Then again, this is probably because the new babies robbed my fitness. Suspect I would have been fine this time last year.@Smiley_boy2501 – I’ll check that out, sounds like a plan!

So come on then, what is the convertible?Midlife crisis=Porsche boxster? BMW Z4?
I did have a hardtop Audi TT – no idea how I would have carried a bike on that…

What is it with people? The story is about motor racing. Doesn’t even mention cycling. The furtherest it strays from motorsport is “We have seen in recent years a great number of successful sporting events here in the UK, of various sizes,” so why are 3 out of 5 comments about cyclists?! Nutters.notfastenough

real shame cos I reckon I would’ve bought them. That’s odd – was it Adam from ASD? I only had to comment on the year-old Road.cc review article noting that Raceware Direct had dropped the price, and he replied almost instantly (I hadn’t even contacted him), and also answered my questions. I do note, however, that Raceware list most of them as being sold out now – I wonder whether they aren’t bothering to restock…

Generally, anything you buy
Generally, anything you buy at that price will be really good. If you buy a bike, ride it once a week, don’t fuss over small details and just generally try to stay healthy, then yeah, maybe you’re over-analysing it. But hardly anyone does that. Cycling is like crack – addictive, expensive and keeps you skinny! You get hooked, you ride more, you read too many reviews (sounds like you’re already guilty of this one!), you find out through trial and error what position you want, how you like the bike to handle, what your preferred kit is (and believe me, the small details will matter!) etc etc ad infinitum. Before you know it, you’re drooling after stuff that you don’t have and you wish your £2.5k had been spent on ‘that bike’ because you realise that you can have a faster bike that’s stiffer where it should be but comfortable where it needs to be.Personally, I wish I’d gone cheaper initially. I spent £1000 on my bike when getting back into cycling, but that kept creeping up as I found out that the bars were the wrong shape, the stem was too short, the saddle was no good for more than a couple of hours, blah blah blah, even before deciding what tyres/saddle/pedals/shoes/clothing etc etc I liked. Then I spent more on a second bike when I knew what I wanted (Trek Madone as it happens). I should have spent £500 on an Allez or a Defy to start with.
So no, take your time, test ride as many as you can, and don’t be rushed. The sale season starts around October-ish, so don’t give in to any pressure to ‘buy it today’ at a discounted price. Try making a shortlist of dealers you will buy from, consisting of the ones that will let you test ride AND will provide a bike fitting, preferably included with the purchase.

Soul wheels have a test ride
Soul wheels have a test ride program, and one of their wheel sets got a great review on here. Look them up, I think they courier the wheels out to you or something. -
