    When I moved to Brum back in
    When I moved to Brum back in 97 and purchased the incredibly useful cycle map of Birmingham there were a lot of roads marked not as cycle routes (quite rare) but as recommended for cyclists, quiet residential, often with modal filters, and then to Reading in 03, the council pamphlet showed quieter streets.
    But of course with the advent of universal sat nav most streets unless blocked become rat runs, whose runners are the most impatient of drivers.

    Because panic is the first reaction and driving away in a damaged car is perfectly normal, remembering later how many CCTV cameras are at train stations and the identifiable car parts. Not for use in identifying bicycle thieves of course.

    Low sun is very predictable,
    Low sun is very predictable, and is the only form of sun at this time of year. Yet I see very little wearing of sunglasses or baseball caps/hats with visors.
    And drivers seem remarkably proficient at staying on the road and not driving into the paths of other, larger vehicles…

    Couple of reasons though, easy acceptance of plea bargaining down to careless, and juries made up of drivers.

    Completely agree, and have requested others on this site to stop using “segregated” as the word is full of negative connotations.

    I think separated is preferable.
