Villagers fume over ‘ridiculous’ new parking charges in School Lane car park in Herne

Also peeved by the increase is church warden for St Martin’s in Herne, Priscilla Cox, who says church-goers are now fretting about the fees and being landed with a ticket.

“There are some very large gatherings for things like weddings and funerals, and the car park is vital,” she said.

“But it is even affecting things like our coffee mornings, with parishioners saying they can’t stay too long because it’s too expensive to park. It’s completely unreasonable and should be reconsidered.”

It’s funny how on the one hand it’s all a war on the hard-working motorist while the bl00dy cyclists unfairly receive all that taxpayers’ money (really?) and yet on the other hand the motorists still insist on free or insanely cheap parking for their vehicles…

There is an open space at the top of my village which has two football pitches marked out on it (the local children’s team practice on it on a saturday).  It is rutted deep where local kids have ridden motorbikes or e-scooters around on it – they actually had to cancel practices where the ruts were so deep they were worried people might trip.

Oh I never trust the weather reports on the Bristol Post.  They seem to go around every single weather site and weather app available, to find a newsworth ‘OMG’ weather report that they can  – er – ‘report’ on.  Even if it is complete horlicks.
