That’s extremely one-sided reporting – I didn’t see that they’d asked any cyclists or clubs about their opinion.

Tom_77 was replying to Cdl888 who mercilessly hijacked your thread to ask for 9-speed jockey wheels. You’ll want 11-speed ones if you’re going to replace them.

They’re designed like that,
They’re designed like that, so not a fault and you don’t need to replace them.

Oops – didn’t spot that they were out of stock (I usually tick that filter box when shopping for myself).
Here’s some suitable ones on EBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132888210884?var=432187554870
Those ones suggest that 7,8 and 9 speed jockey wheels are all compatible, so some shopping around may find some cheaper ones (or colourful aluminium ones).

It can be tricky to spot mis-alignment of rear derailleurs, but I’d expect any problems to make themselves known quite soon after the damage. I’d go for cables first as jockey wheels can easily last longer than 9,000 miles.

Thank you ? Just less than 9,000 miles done on the bike, but there are lots of hills. So plenty of gear changing.kil0ran wrote:The main spring will fatigue over time, as will the main pivot bushing. But R7000 is pretty new so I’m surprised it’s already worn, unless you’re doing mega miles?
I’d expect a derailleur to last a lot longer than 9,000 miles even with a lot of shifting. Far more likely to be jockey wheels and/or cables unless you’ve had some impacts on it.

Cdl888 wrote:Jumping in on this one. How specific are jockey wheels on shimano mechs? I have a Sora 9 speed equipped bike on my turbo that needs new jockey wheels but I’m unsure which I need. Any suggestions?
Can’t say that I’ve used Sora 9 speed, but I think jockey wheels are one of the less confusing bike parts so you just need to go for 9 speed jockey wheels (though I’d ignore Campagnolo ones as they’re more likely to be incompatible with Shimano in general).
Wiggle only seems to show these ones: https://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-rd-m430-alivio-9-speed-jockey-wheels

milKit wrote:milKit here 😉 we are happy to say that we do now offer the needle, the syringe as well as the flexible connector as replacement parts. You can purchase these online (depending where you are based via http://www.milKit.bike or amazon or https://www.freewheel.co.uk), all dealers can be found here: https://milkit.bike/dealers/ or you can go directly to one of our retailers. We hope this helps, please feel free to reach out to us if you have more questions on where to purchase our replacement parts.
That’s great, thanks for the response.
Currently, the replacement needle is out of stock at Freewheel and can’t find it on Amazon, but that’s not really a problem as I’ve ordered some hopefully compatible metal ones.
One thing that might be useful in the future is if you produced an extra long valve that’s suitable for 85mm deep rims. I’ve had my eye on a Prime rear 85mm wheel, but wouldn’t be able to use a MilKit valve on it if I bought one. I’m guessing that to fit an 85mm rim, the valve would need to be approx 100mm in length (judging by my using a 75mm valve in a 60mm rim).

You’ve just made me look up
You’ve just made me look up if there’s any difference between isopropanol and isopropyl alcohol. It’s the same stuff with 2 common names along with a third less commonly used name: propan-2-ol.
Wish my work had easy access to 70% ethanol.

I’m with Rich_cb, but rather than just checking, I’d go for replacing the inner cable to start with as they do get worn and damaged. Whilst replacing the inner, you might find that the outer needs replacing too (the outers tend to last for ages unless they’ve got damaged).

Brake cleaner is mainly isopropyl alcohol as it evaporates without leaving residue.

I was surprised to see the use of ‘driver’ in that article, so maybe some reporters are trying to use appropriate language now.
However, the titles under the images are labelled “A car crashed into a traffic light on Fishponds Road in Bristol” so I think it still counts.

One passer-by, Michael Corbett, said police told him the driver would not be facing an investigation about the collision – and questioned the decision.“The driver is OK, according to officers and tested for drink/drugs but they said ‘accidents happen’ and will not be prosecuting the driver,” Mr Corbett tweeted.
“This accident happened in broad daylight and the driver was not driving into the sun. I take issue with your officers saying ‘accidents will happen’ and not intending to prosecute/investigate. The speed limit on this road is 20. What is your official policy on this?” he asked.
