I actually thought that the comments software couldn’t get any worse again.. yeah, so wrong about that too….
Honestly can’t work out how road.cc manage to repeatedly buy in such mis-featured resource and guess perhaps they don’t really use it much. I genuinely do not interact with any other site with such poor comment support – how on Earth is it possible to generate so much entropy in the threading of them for a start ? Not here that much any more but it’s irritating.

I really didn’t miss your point about data – I just didn’t response to it. I didn’t miss your casual, intolerant slang either; I take it you understood my latter point.

“Drivers” aren’t “the worst”
“Drivers” aren’t “the worst” – idiots are, regardless of whether they’re using vehicles or not. One part of the problem is that larger, safer, more powerful vehicles can lead people to feel more isolated from the external reality, more easily used as an extension of their frustration or anger, more dangerous to those around them – in the hands of idiots that can, and does, prove fatal; but the main part is still the person and not the type of vehicle.. who knows, perhaps the sort of person who views all people different from themselves as somehow ‘wrong’ and easily resorts to out-group slurs to tar them all with the same, convenient, brush.

They might not be alone.
Changing the subject and engaging in little bit of ad hominem is not a great step forward either, IMO of course..

Shimano are notoriously pessimistic about things like this, perhaps understandably, but given the R8000 GS will pull an 11-40 i’d be tempted to try your SS with the 11-34 first . Wind that B-tension screw in, or reverse it, and see what clearance you get on the top jockey – i’d hazard a guess that the chain wrap on the SS is OK if it’ll work perfectly on an 11-30.

The Trek website says the 2020 model Emonda SL5 Disc is using the Bontrager Affinity Disc rims on Bontrager hubs (looks like the 2019 also used Affinity rims)
Had a couple of sets of older Bontrager Race TLR wheels and they’re alright IME, especially the hubs – nice tight rims for tubeless, sometimes real tight for any tyre, with the TLR rim strip in.

It was supportive of Edwards08’s choice to refuse to deal with goods from one whilst happily buying from such bastions of civil rights such as Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia “with a clear conscience” without blinking. The tone was unhelpful though and, frankly, I couldn’t be arsed continuing with it.
