DPD and RoyalMail are pretty
DPD and RoyalMail are pretty much always near the top, and Yodel near the bottom..

..myHermes are consistently down the list but, as I said, i’ve personally had no bother with them over the years and they used to be significantly cheaper than RM and ParcelForce – who basically fleeced everybody for years. YMMV completely. I’ve had really good experience with ParcelForce apart from randomly appearing ‘Missed you’ leaflets when i’ve been in (same as every carrier tbh). Know about TNT, UPS and to a lesser extent Yodel from the inside via direct and indirect experience over the years – generally wouldn’t touch any of them, but that might also be because i’ve seen how the sausage is made I guess…

Used them for years, not had
Used them for years, not had a problem – that’s sending stuff but not had any real issues I can remember on the receiving side either. Worked in the international courier side for a few years, and close dealings with the domestic side, saw a lot a crap and Hermes don’t actually seem that bad to be honest, seem to have a lot less problems with management, drivers and deliveries than, say, Yodel had. That said, there’s always going to be some shite people in any business – unfortunately sounds like you’ve hit one of those.

Generally Strava does
Generally Strava does classify indoor (virtual) rides separately anyway, is there something specific this is about ? (I do agree with you about it not being the same, for the most part even the less strenuous indoor rides I do seem significantly more effort per km than their outside equivalent, e.g. there’s really not any chance for free-wheeling).

I really like 1x for a number of reasons, but it’s neither the Devil nor the answer to everything; for what you sound like you want to use it for i’d be tempted stick with 2x – at least for now / until you’ve had a play and see how it works for you.

If they’re both 3 bolt
If they’re both 3 bolt spiders then, yes, I think they should be compatible (going by the compatibility of the DM chainrings from absoluteBLACK and other info from general forum chat). Quick question – as you want to the Force crankset in 1x mode with the Rival 1 spider, is there some reason to want the Force and not just use the Rival ? (none of my business really, your bike, and the Force looks a bit nicer – just curious 🙂

Nightjar wrote:Though 1x looks so simple…or is it all hype?If you’re hitting serious off-road, especially if you mainly are and/or are racing on it, then 1x with a narrow/wide ring or chain guide can make a lot of sense. If not, life’s probably that bit more easy without it. Sounds like your use cases put you a lot more in the latter to me anyway. IMO as always.

There’s quite a few good ones on the first page of hits. Search function on road.cc is fairly dreadful, even after the lastest re-write – you’re usually better off using straight Google with the ‘site’ option or similar for your search engine of choice.

Big-big will be fine – well, as fine as big-big on the 32 was.

Yes and almost certainly yes,
Yes and almost certainly yes, unless maybe your existing chain is staggeringly tight to the point of almost not working already.

Refresh page and the text is invisible, but if you click where the combo-box should be – and then choose a different ordering than the current one – it will reappear (until the page is refreshed again anyway – Chrome 79.0.3945.130)
