So if its mainly about looks
So if its mainly about looks – its really up to you.
There are no ‘bad’ bikes around – just ones a bit pricier than others.
What about some of these bikes ? Anuthing float your boat ?

How long are your sportives ?
How long are your sportives ? If you can sit all day at that level – that’s quite impressive.

Factor in possible delays.
Factor in possible delays. Building bike up. Breaking it down. Picking up hire car. Driving to hills. Kitting up. Riding. Descending. Breaking bike down again. Driving to airport. Returning hire car. Checking in. (all sweaty And stinky presumably)It’s not going to be much fun. Presumably it’s for a challenge thing? You’d be better off setting a hard route to ride. Ay least you’d have more control.
A flight delay or mislaid bag and you’re screwed.

A cx with slick Road tyres is
A cx with slick Road tyres is as fast as a road bike.Ditch your cx tyres if you want to and get proper Road tyres. You will be faster again like for like given the same conditions and compared to the mtb.

TBH if kids are on here then
TBH if kids are on here then they’re probably cyclists and have heard worse on the street from angry people.
Also school is brilliant for swearing.
I’ve not really noticed any excessive swearing here but I’m not 8.

There’s a bikes hotel in bormio. I forget the name but it was excellent. Room to hang up all the bikes and storage for shoes and helmets. Full tool kit and place to wash the bikes too. Laundry bag that you’d put your kit in and it’s ready by breakfast. So good.Good luck with it.

Was in London the other week
Was in London the other week and walking along the Green lights did alert me to a bike coming before their crappy headlights had started to light the road. So they may be OK for those bikes – but I suspect most of us have brighter lights than you get on a boris bike anyway.

Also http://www.bikeline.co.uk/ – they’ve done good work for pals in the past.
I’d be wary of dealing with insurance companies direct – I don’t trust them. Make a note of all of your injuries – photos of everything – all the scratches – all the bruises – all the damaged clothes too.
Heal well.

Kind of depends what you have
Kind of depends what you have already.
Waterproof probably isnt as useful as a windproof in the winter – you’ll be out in the wind more than the rain.

Never actually thought about
Never actually thought about it – but I think I unclip with level pedals.
If you’re stopping with LH crank down might you catch it on the pavement or kerb ?
Really dont think it matters much any way.

Seriously ? Flat bars ?
Seriously ? Flat bars ?
Look at the profile of a round bar to a flat bar. I cant see much gain to be made there in the real world.
Probably better off buying a tight fitting jersey or ducktaping your ears back.

What training are you doing ? Look at that first.
Trainerroad is about £10 a month ? You can get a lot of improvement for that. Aero helmet – nuffink. I have one (bought as I thought it’d be warmer in winter – not really proven that either).
Am I faster than I was ? Not that I can tell.
If you don’t race then you really dont need an aero helmet.
If you do race then I’ll assume youve done all the training first.
