Drivers and their problems
Woman shocked at being refused courtesy car by KAP Motor Group in Folkestone because garage’s insurance policy does not cover over-70s
Sue, a retired police officer, told KentOnline: “How dare someone behind a desk decide I’m too old to drive a courtesy car.
“I renew my licence every three years. I’ve been a petrolhead all my life. I’ve got more road experience than most, and I’m still a perfectly capable driver.
“It might sound like a small thing, but I really can’t be without a car for that long,” she said.
“From the moment I started driving, I was hooked. There’s a bus stop over there, but I’ve used my bus pass only twice since I retired in 2011.”

Arthur is well warped isn’t he – not that I can blame him. “picked on a poor elderly motorist for cycling without due care for their wing mirror” is a keeper

Range Rover crashes through wall near Beckhams’ mansion
According to national reports, the man was arrested after crashing through the wall of the Great Tew estate.
A car matching the description of the Range Rover was seen leaving nearby exclusive country club Soho Farmhouse on Saturday night, where fellow ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell had been signing copies of her latest children’s book, according to The Sun.

Get a sense of proportion. So they were in a bit of a hurry and no-one got hurt. I’ve seen far worse from cyclists, and because they don’t wear number plates they get off scot free.Last Updated: 3 hrs ago

Maidenhead tradesmen fear for future amid ‘disgraceful’ council parking crackdown
The watchful eye of RBWM’s parking department has fallen upon vans used by Ray Street and Ray Park Lane residents, with the council threatening to revoke their permits over claimed rule-breaking.
But their owners say, after years of having to fork out hundreds of pounds for parking permits, the swoop on their vital vehicles is hypocritical and has left them fearing for their futures.
An email to Gary from RBWM parking and enforcement, seen by the Advertiser, said his resident’s parking permit was was breaking the rules because it was too heavy to meet the criteria.
But he hit back at this claim.
“It’s only a small wheelbase Vauxhall Vivaro,” he said. “It’s no bigger than most of the cars when it’s parked in the bays here.”
“Goods vehicles exceeding 1500kg, business vans, lorries and buses are excluded from the scheme. Also you cannot park trailers or caravans whether they are linked or stand alone in a Resident Permit Area. All vehicles must be able to fit into any markings of the bays or area.”
looks to me the Vivaro exceeds the 1500 kg kerb weight limit:
Picture : why, oh why can’t I park my van here?

Car doesn’t crash into building : Dereham pub could lose thousands over broken traffic lights
A publican fears he could lose thousands of pounds during the Easter weekend after a crash which stopped traffic lights has turned customers away from the area.
The Railway Tavern on Yaxham Road in Dereham is experiencing a fall in trade following an accident when a car crashed into an electricity box earlier this week.
The delay has left publican, Paul Sandford, fearing customers will be put off from visiting the Railway Tavern over the Easter weekend.
Mr Sandford said the Easter weekend is historically “the busiest weekend of the year” and he could lose “potentially thousands” over the ordeal.
