Had the op 7 weeks ago doing ten mile rides easily about to up the mileage. Started circuit training and spin again this week but taking it a bit easy. I’ve lost 15% of my meniscus but the doc reckons that shouldn’t bother me too much 30% is the time to worry. It will still be up to two months before it’s totally ok. Bloody knees!

I wouldn’t trust halfords to sort it out, I have had so many issues with that bike. Also is it not microshift front mech? I changed mine for a sram rival after the microshift started to bow outwards making it impossible to shift.

I’ve only had one puncture in 3 sets of Duranos and that was me not paying attention and running over a drinks can. Equally my gatorskins have been just as good too.

I did the same last last
I did the same last last year, although my target was 5000 miles, I don’t like kilometres for some reason. I did probably 90% of it on my own which towards the end got slightly tedious. Up until the end of July I was flying, and was well up on target, I then had bronchitis twice which throughout August, September and October really hurt me. My commute to work is three miles and I would regularly do ten or 12, even popping out for a quick ride in my lunch break. I often did a long ride after work on a Tuesday or Wednesday and a 70 mile ride at the weekend, it soon adds up. You just have to get out and rack up the miles, even if towards the end it gets depressing. I was out on Xmas day and New Year’s Eve too, only a 20 miler and a 12 miler, but they do all add up.

I fractured my skull in a climbing accident, had I been wearing my helmet my would have been sore, but ok. When a car pulled out on me and I somersaulted through the air and my head smashed into to the road surface, my helmet cracked but my head was fine and that helmet was 7 years old.Take from that what you will.

Cheers for the feedback. The surgeon used the term cracked, but described the same process about keyhole etc. Hopefully I will be sorted by the end of the year and back out on the bike. I can use my spin bike gently at the moment, so hopefully its not too bad!

If you buy a 5cm x 5cm x2cm you can have a right laugh on the 2p machines in the arcades!

I use a Neodymium on my bikes
I use a Neodymium on my bikes have no issues with them, be careful applying them as they are brittle and shatter quite easily. Plenty of sites stocking them if you google them.

Interesting about the hydration as their seems to be more evidence coming to light that we can go just as hard whilst “dehydrated” http://trailrunnernation.com/2013/03/dr-tim-noakes-are-we-waterlogged/ the chap can be a little “sensationalist” but raises some interesting points. I have been thinking more about how much fluid I take out with me. I haven’t listened to the clip for a while but it’s interesting to hear that Haile Gebrselassie lost nearly 10% of his starting weight on a marathon, but did also consume 2l during a race http://www.runnersworld.com/drinks-hydration/haile-gebrselassies-world-record-marathon-fueling-plan

As SteppenHerring said I find on longer rides 100 + miles that i cannot manage on gels, energy drinks etc I have to have proper food, I found lard cake fantastic, but it is a suck it and see approach really what works for one doesn’t work for another. But bananas, peanut butter and Marmite sandwiches, ham and cheese sarnies seem to work for me. I use the Zero tabs for hydration.

I have hit more K.O.M.s on my 32’s than my 25’s all around Southampton I think mainly due to their ability to just ride over everything. Running 28’s now on my commuter, and my road bike will only take 25’s. being a heavier rider @ 83Kilos I will never go back to 23’s its so much nicer!“you can’t blame him. You gotta figure that boinking Evelyn is like riding a bicycle over train tracks. You’ll get where you’re going, but you’re gonna feel every bump.”

I emailed them again, they responded. They were going to go and “have a word” but as it was a hire car, and they are not looking to press charges nothing will be done. So there you have it, if you want to get away with dangerous driving, use a hire car.
