Cheers, I looked at them, but no Disc brake, and it comes with 23c tyres. The Whyte Suffolk looks good, but just a bit to pricey.

The Cannondale Synapse Alloy 105 Disc 2015 ticked nearly all the boxes, except the mudguards and it comes with 25s, but will take 28’s I think! 🙁

Fiber Flares are great but get the usb rechargeable ones as the points corrode on the battery operated ones.

I weigh the same as you, I upgraded my wheels last year after my old Mavics died (they were at least 10 years old) Bought some Forza Stratos, They were 100 or so gramms lighter, but more aero for £180. I noticed a slight difference (i ride a modified Ventoux Saracen) i bought second hand 10 years ago, it had a campy groupset when I bought it, still does. I treated it it a respray and some cheap carbon forks to replace the steel ones last year. the whole thing weighs about 10KG.I am riding faster, now than I was a year ago, but more to do with weight loss, and more specific training, I ride about 150 miles a week on my trusty steed. As someone once said, it’s not about the bike!
I would probably go faster for less were I to swap my standard for a compact, and my 12-25 for a 12-28 particularly on the hills!

I can’t recommend the Boardman CX Team enough, sturdy wheels and frame and it shifts if you put slicks on, it doesn’t weigh a ton either. I have set a few KOM’s on mine. if you join British cycling and add their 10% off to what Halfords have you get a £900 bike for about £720.Equally the next model down at £600 before any discount is a good model too.
