Bosch has had three displays in its line-up for the past couple of years, after the simpler Purion display joined the Intuvia mid-mounted display and the highly-capable-but-rarely-seen Nyon. Now there’s a fourth option, the Kiox, which is deigned “for sporty eBikers”. All the launch pictures are very mountain bike focused, suggesting that Bosch is aming the display primarily at e-MTBers.

The Kiox is quite a different beast to the older displays. It’s centrally mounted; the computer uses a magnetic mount and Bosch is keen for manufacturers to integrate the display as neatly as possible. The Kiox uses a 208 × 274 pixel colour display behind a tough Gorilla Glass protective screen. It runs from the system battery but also has an internal battery that gives 20 minutes of run time, which is useful if you want to run through your ride stats when you’ve turned your bike off at the end. More than the other computers it’s designed to be taken on and off the bike.

As well as integrating with the motor system, the Kiox display is Bluetooth-compatible. That allows the computer to be paired to external sensors: heart rate monitors to begin with, with other sensors supoorted further down the line. The Bluetooth connection also allows users to update the computer’s firmware over the air. There’s a Micro-USB port in the Kiox, too; that can be used for updates and also to charge devices on the go. With the USB port closed the Kiox is fully IPX7 water and dust proof.

The wired handlbar remote has buttons for changing the assistance mode, and also to cycle through the various display modes on the Kiox. The walk-assist function is also accessed from the remote.
