Assos Equipe R Bib Shorts S11
Buy from Cyclestore for £148.50

Brown shorts are a faux-pas of course, but earthy green is ok surely? Despite our reviewer conceding that the colour options “might not be for all”, everything else about the Assos Equipe R came in for plenty of praise: an “outstanding” chamois, soft but compressive materials, comfort over long distances and the ideal fit for racing or hard training. They’re not cheap, but not the most expensive out there either considering the quality.

Castelli Espresso Jersey

Castelli’s popular Espresso jersey strikes an ideal balance between practicality, comfort and style. While it’s undoubtedly a performance jersey, the Espresso has roomy pockets to make it suitable for all-day summer adventures. The breathability is excellent, and the fit will agree with most cyclists.

Tern GSD S10 (Gen 3)
Buy from Winstanleys Bikes for £5,700

Tern’s GSD has long been applauded over on ebiketips, and it’s no different with the third iteration of this class-leading cargo bike. One of the few e-cargo rigs that can genuinely replace a car, this beast has plenty of carrying capacity, a fantastic range of accessories and it’s very easy to ride. The build quality is superb too, meaning this bike should last years and years while saving you an unthinkable amount of cash compared to driving everywhere for your urban journey.

Bont Vaypor SL

Bont shoes have fans all over the globe, and our George Hill is certainly one of them after putting plenty of miles into the Vaypor SLs. They came in for high praise for the exceptional quality, super stiff soles and light weight: “These are the closest thing I’ve found to shoes that feel like a component, which is really saying something”, says George. Indeed!

Boardman SLR 9.0 Carbon 2025

Boardman has struck again when it comes to delivering a quality, smooth ride at a great price point. Described as “fast, fun, versatile and efficient” by our reviewer, the SLR 9.0 Carbon has a great ride feel and offers a lot of bike for your cash. It will take up to 36mm tyres, wide enough for brief off-road adventures, and 12-speed mechanical shifting on a bike comfortably under two grand offers exceptional value for money.

HT PK02 Carbon Pedals

While they might be lacking in imaginative naming, these pedals certainly make up for it in performance according to our very impressed reviewer.
Weighing just 228g for the pair, the carbon PK02 pedals are lighter than much more expensive rivals yet don’t compromise when it comes to performance. Engagement is solid, the cleats are good quality, and the bearings stood up to everything our reviewer threw at them over a long test period.
