Cycling app of the week: Santa Bicycle Rider Xmas Special

Yep, you read that right: help Santa to deliver presents around a neighbourhood by bike. Merry Christmas!

What is it?

We were challenged to find a Christmas-themed cycling app for this week's edition of Cycling App of the Week, and here's where we wound up: Santa Bicycle Rider Xmas Special is a slice of festive silliness that involves steering your virtual Santa around a pretty drab looking neighbourhood and delivering presents along the way. Press the chain button to move the bike, use the arrows to navigate and the brake to stop, and deliver the swag. You can unlock new bikes as you move up the levels. Although it's spammy and ads pop up a bit too often the graphics aren't bad for a free app game.

What makes it unique?

Santa and bikes... we've never seen that before!

We hope St Nick's bold road positioning doesn't result in a near miss or two

How can it help me?

Errr... it might keep the kids quiet for a few minutes but otherwise it's just for jokes.

Where can I get it?

This app is Android-only, and can be downloaded here. We found one on iTunes which seems to involve Santa taking on some kind of obstacle course while doing stunts, so if that appeals check it out here.

Jack has been writing about cycling and multisport for over a decade, arriving at road.cc via 220 Triathlon Magazine in 2017. He worked across all areas of the website including tech, news and video, and also contributed to eBikeTips before being named Editor of road.cc in 2021 (much to his surprise). Jack has been hooked on cycling since his student days, and currently has a Trek 1.2 for winter riding, a beloved Bickerton folding bike for getting around town and an extra beloved custom Ridley Helium SLX for fantasising about going fast in his stable. Jack has never won a bike race, but does have a master's degree in print journalism and two Guinness World Records for pogo sticking (it's a long story).
