We were hugely impressed with the original Proviz Reflect 360 jacket when it launched a couple of years ago. Here was a jacket that was entirely made from a silvery reflective material that ensured maximum visibility on the dark winter commute, compared to most cycling jackets that made only a minimum effort to provide reflective details.
The only downside was that it was available in just one colour, which was fine if you liked the silver. But it has now launched its first all-colour version of the jacket and it’s available in five bright colours: blue, green, red, yellow and black. Which colour will be most in demand we wonder?

Despite the colour, the material remains fully reflective, providing 360-degree visibility. When a light shines on it goes a silvery shade. That means you have a regular looking cycle jacket during the day, but at night the whole thing reflects the light from a passing car or motorbike. The jacket uses a special fabric with millions of very small reflective glass beads embedded in it, and these reflect back the light.
For some reason the company has decided to launch the jacket on Kickstarter, but it has been a resounding success because with 3 days to go it has achieved a staggering £79,826 of funding, well above its £20,000 goal. That’s 980 backers all keen to get their hands on a coloured version of the Proviz Reflect 360 jacket.
The jacket has been so successful since it launch that the company proudly boasts that it’s the best-selling jacket on Amazon and is sold in over 40 countries.

Like the original, the jacket is fully waterproof with seam-sealed storm zips and a fleece-lined collar, with adjustable cuffs and waistband to tailor the fit. It’s available in men and women’s sizes from XS up to XXXXL.

Looks promising, but I’m not sure about the cut, kinda looks baggy but might be good when wearing extra layers in the winter.
Hopefully Road.cc will do a thorough review this winter!
Definitely cooled than having
Definitely cooler than having reflective silver bands all over your back. However, who on earth is doing their pattern cutting, Jay Cutler? I really don’t think many cyclists are going to be wearing a suit, then a Canada Goose Parka, then this on top, to justify needing all that room.
The arms on these jackets go a bit beyond being comfort-fit. These things are parachutes judging by pics online..

Perhaps the arms are cut so they are the right length when your arms are out front on the handlebars? But those pics do make it look extremely baggy! Maybe good for a casual e-biker scooting into town but for anyone travelling fast under their own steam it will cause serious drag!

Saw it for sale on ChainReactionCycles earlier. Spotted quite a bit of negativity:
this jacket is not breathable in the slightest. A short 5 mile commute in 6 degree temp with a base layer and jersey and I was cooked alive
the cut is very odd, it comes up huge. I’m an average 5’9″ with 40″ chest and the medium drowned me and small fitted stood up but was tight in shoulders when riding… Disappointed so sold on.

This Jacket don’t breathe at all – and you are going to sweat a lot.
Anyway, you can get it on CRC for 51.99. Cheaper than Kickstarter if you’re happy with the white/silver colour.
I have one, the crap cut is true
I own one of these jacket (in the previous gray colour). The reviewers are spot-on above:
The reflectivity really is something extra, you really have to see it. It’s stunning. BUT. The fit is like a big tent. I don’t know what they were thinking. The material is also rather heavy. Still ok for a commuter jacket but could be a lot better for the money.
The fabric doesn’t breathe at all, that much is correct, but there are vents you can open. I don’t think it’s too bad but I’ve only used it in winter.
I hope they will release an updated version with a better cut. They already did that once (it’s the “+” in some of the pictures above) and that’s what I’ve tried. I hesitate to think what the original version felt like.
