Fans of tubeless road tyres will know that the key to avoiding flats is the use of a sealant, in place of the inner tube. Stan’s NoTubes has been producing sealant longer than most and has just launched this new Race Sealant, designed to seal larger holes faster.
– Road tubeless: everything you need to know
As the name suggests, the product has been designed for the demands of racers, but we think its claimed benefits would be just fine for non-racers as well. It’s been in development for 15 years apparently, developed for racers who push tubeless tyres to the limit in tough conditions.
To create the new sealant, the company has doubled the number of sealing crystals but also added to the mix new “XL” crystals. These larger crystals are claimed to help seal bigger punctures that the regular sealant struggles with.
The new formulation does mean that the sealant has to be poured directly into the tyre. It can’t be injected through the valve because it’s highly likely to clog it, according to the company. It’s not advised for use in tubulars or inner tubes, for that reason. That could make installation a little trickier if you like to do a dry run and inflate the tyre onto the rim without sealant.
Stan’s says the new sealant is safe for the environment and is made of natural ingredients.
It’s available now, with a 946ml bottle costing £30, available from www.paligap.cc and all good retailers.
