Canadian bike brand Cervélo launched the R3 Disc this year (and it’s likely to be put into action by the Dimension Data pro team next season) but a couple of videos the company has just shared indicates it might be set to release an all-new gravel and adventure disc-equipped bike soon.

In the videos, well you don’t get to see much of the actual bike, but the type of riding, along with the commentary, does suggest the bike has been designed to tackle gravel roads, and that it is comfortable and light, and fast like a race bike. With the gravel/adventure category blossoming with new bikes this year, it wouldn’t surprise us if that is the direction for this new bike.

So what details can guess at the new bike having? It’ll be a carbon fibre frame and fork, naturally, given the company’s history with carbon. We know it has disc brakes, so the big question is how wide a tyre can the frame accommodate? It’s likely to be in the region of 30-40mm tyres we would guess, given the way the market is going. That would make it pretty similar to the Genesis Datum or Parlee’s Chebacco.

And what might this new bike be called? If a German retailer of Cervélo bikes is to be believe, it could be the C Series. More on the 15th December…

So, that’s two of the ‘on trend’ boxes ticked: Gravel and Disc. Shame they couldn’t have added aero in somewhere so that we would all have to buy a bike that only last year we never knew we needed 😉
