The Endura Men’s FS260 Thermo Bib Tights II are winter bib tights that punch well above their weight. They cost much less than other options that are this warm, water-resistant and comfortable.

Since Jamie reviewed the first generation tights, Endura has dropped the ‘pro’ part of the product name. It appears little else has changed other than the price.
This has increased from £99 to £119.99, a below-inflation rise according to the Bank of England’s inflation calculator.

The FS260 Thermo Bib Tights are the third-tier men’s road bib tights in the Endura range. They sit below the £139.99 Windchill Bib Tights and the £189.99 Pro SL Bib Tight II. Both of these incorporate more weather protection than the FS260, while the top-tier Pro SL also gains Endura’s higher spec 700 Series chamois pad and high-stretch, Lycra bound straps.

Although these features potentially improve comfort, I liked the FS260’s 600 Series chamois. If you’re unfamiliar with Endura’s pads, they tend to be thinner and narrower than other brands’. This is compensated for by the density of the gel inserts and their excellent positioning, which kept them squarely under my sit bones. Having less material in this area can also improve breathability.

The FS260 straps look to be an area where Endura has cut costs. They lack the premium feel of the flat, elastic straps seen on Endura’s Pro SL bib shorts, but they still had enough stretch to loop over my scrawny shoulders and their stitching didn’t chafe my chest. Like the straps, the fleecy upper part of the tights has some mesh for ventilation, which insulated my back without causing sweat build-up. A front zip speeds up nature breaks and feels unobtrusive when done up, probably due to the soft zip guard.

As with many of the best winter bib tights, the FS260 Thermos have zips on the calves to facilitate dressing and undressing, and long reflective strips to catch car headlights. The raw-cut edge to the ankle cuff provides a close, but not tight fit, and means there’s none of the irritating stitching that some of the cheapest bibs have in this area.

On the road, the FS260s perform really well as thermal bib tights. The chamois is comfortable for three hour plus rides, and they’re warm enough for steady efforts in single digit temperatures, but not too stuffy for more intense sessions or milder days.

When riding into nippy breezes, I could have done with more thigh insulation though. The water-repellent DWR treatment did its job in showers though and remained effective after machine washing.
Value
As illustrated earlier, the FS260 Thermos are keenly priced compared to their predecessors and to the rest of Endura’s men’s bib tights.
They’re also good value relative to other highly rated thermal bib tights. Recently we were very impressed by the Castelli Espresso Bib Tights and the Albion All Road Three Season Pocket Bib Tights, but these cost £170 and £175 respectively – more than £50 pricier.
Their cost is also dwarfed by the £265 Assos Equipe R Habu Winter Bib Tights S11, underlining just how much you can spend on keeping your legs warm. But this is what the Endura FS260 Thermo did for me, much more affordably, so I think they’ll meet the needs of most cyclists’ winter outdoor riding.
Conclusion
Unless you spend lots of time riding in truly awful winter weather or really feel the cold, I don’t think you need more sophisticated bib tights than the Endura FS260 Thermo. They’re comfortable, warm tights with some water resistance and solid features at a competitive price.
Verdict
Simple, effective and comfy tights with good features for the money
