Hoy's Hidden Bikes compo gives you the chance to win a £1,000 bike

Three gold bikes hidden across the UK, follow the clues to find one and you could win big

Got a bit of time on your hands, and like puzzles? Why not check out the Hoy's Hidden Bikes competiton running at Evans Cycles at the moment. Sir Chris and the chaps from Evans are hiding three golden bikes across the UK – one in London, one in Manchester and one in Edinburgh over the next couple of weeks, follow the clues on twitter and you could trade one in for £1,000 of gear from Evans.

First up is London is London, and the clues have already started. Here are the first two...

Quote:

Clue 1: Running from Crickdale to Southend this is no bike ride. Mile upon mile of places to hide.

Quote:

Clue 2: Four wheels and trucks, rather than two. It's busy on Sundays. Enough of a clue?

There's more to come. The bikes are locked and the combination to the lock will be hidden in the clues as well. Once you've found the bike and unlocked it, you just need to take it to your local Evans store where they'll need to verify that it's one of the prize bikes, and not some old beater out of your shed sprayed with gold paint.

Just follow @chrishoy on twitter or search for the hashtag #hoyshiddenbikes. If you don't do twitter, all the clues will also appear on the compo page on the Evans website. Happy sleuthing!

Going to have to hide the Manchester one very well indeed or it won't be there when you decipher the clue!

I don't imagine Manchester has any more thieves than London. 37

I'm guessing you need the third clue to finish the combination. Might be 4-2-?, from simply taking numbers mentioned in the tweets. Crickdale to Southend on the Thames is 215 miles - so 2-1-5 perhaps? Could do with knowing how long the combination is.

£1k of vouchers would be nice, regardless of the fact that it's Evans.

Might have to ask Melvin Bragg.
