Driver dead and cyclist in critical condition after collision in Norfolk

Police seeking witnesses to the crash

Police have released further details about a collision in which a driver was killed and a cyclist was left in critical condition in Norfolk on Thursday.

The incident happened at around 4.20pm on the A1065 at South Raynham, where an 84 year old man from Sheringham who was driving a Nissan Micra was pronounced dead at the scene.

A female cyclist, aged 31, on a green Dawes Galaxy, was discovered to have serious internal injuries, head injuries and broken bones, and was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridgeshire where her condition remains critical.

A Norfolk police spokesman told Lynn News: “Diversions were put in place to allow emergency personnel to attend the scene and for police to carry out initial investigations. These were lifted at about 8pm.

“Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have spotted a green/silver coloured cycle travelling towards Swaffham, the manner of driving of the Micra or witnessed the incident itself.

“They should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Wymondham roads policing on the non-emergency 101 number.”
