Win! a pair of free tickets on the Tour de Latitude!

Three organised rides to the Suffolk festival will reduce your Carbon footprint and raise money for good causes

What's the worst thing about a festival? The journey. Stuck in a queue of traffic being directed to a boggy car park several miles from where you want your tent to be. The helpful chaps at Latitude Festival have come up with the solution: ride there. They're organising a series of fully supported rides to the event, running in Suffolk from 12-15 July. And you can win a pair of tickets, which includes your entry to the event all weekend!

All the rides begin on the first day of the festival, Thursday 12 July. If you want a proper challenge then the longest ride is a 113-mile run up from Hackney, with Colchester (55 miles) and Ipswich (35 miles) the other two starting points. Obviously you won't want to do any of those distances lugging a tent and some windchimes, so your luggage will be transported separately. While you're at the festival your bike will be stored in a secure location, and at the end you can either choose to ride home or hop on the bus, depending on how much festival juice you've partaken of over the course of the weekend.

The rides will be fully supported, with sign posted routes, bicycle mechanics, cycle guides, emergency response, and free food stops every 20 miles. Marks & Spencer are partnering the event, so expect the en-route refreshment to be a cut above Jammie Dodgers and energy gels. You even get a free massage and an (optional) ice bath at the finish.

The Tour is raising money for two charities: The Kenyan Orphan Project, which exists to support orphans and vulnerable children in Kenya on issues of health, education and social welfare; and Julie’s Bicycle, a non-profit company providing expertise in environmental sustainability to over 400 organisations in the UK and internationally. In order to take part, each participant will need to raise £350 which covers the cost of registration, support, logistics, a weekend festival ticket, a £60 donation to Kenyan Orphan Project and a £20 donation to Julie’s Bicycle. The organisers of Latitude, Festival Republic, will donate an additional £75 for every participant who starts at Hackney, £35 per participant starting from Sudbury and £25 per participant starting from Ipswich.

Online registration for the Tour de Latitude is now open at but two lucky readers could be hitting the lanes of Suffolk and Essex on theire way to the festival for free! Just go to the online entry form and fill in your details - remember to put where it asks you where you came from. You have to be resident in the UK and aged over 16 in order to enter. Full T&Cs are below if you're interested, note that this is a competition run by Festival Republic, organisers, of the Latitude Festival, and not by
