news

road.cc is the Bikebiz consumer website of the year! Again!

We're racking up the perspex blocks round here... and going for the hat-trick in 2012...

You may have already heard the news from our rather drunken tweets from the other night, but road.cc has picked up the Bikebiz award for best consumer website for the second year in a row!

At a glittering* ceremony packed with the great and good of the cycling industry, road.cc beat off fierce competition in what was apparently one of the most closely contested categories at the awards. In the end, though, we just nipped it from Bikeradar and our good friends at SIngletrack, with jolly good Bristol-based biking site Cyclist No.1 and listings site The Bike List also making the final five.

So – sob, sniff – we'd like to thank all the people that have made it possible. Our crack team of writers and testers, the lovely Elaine who pesters enough people to advertise that we still have a roof over our heads, all our friends in the bike industry who have supported us, and you the reader for getting involved with the site and helping to make it the community that it is.

We'll need to up our game next year if we want to win another one. So, over to you. What should we do to improve the site? Answers on a postcard. Actually, just comment below, that's probably easier. If you want to live the moment with us, just watch the slightly shonky video below. Dave would like to point out that he still hasn't received his fiver from Tony.

*That's how we remember it, anyway

Dave is a founding father of road.cc, having previously worked on Cycling Plus and What Mountain Bike magazines back in the day. He also writes about e-bikes for our sister publication ebiketips. He's won three mountain bike bog snorkelling World Championships, and races at the back of the third cats.

Well done Bruv (Tony) and Dave.
Tony, have you actually told mum and dad that road.cc won?
I'd sure they'd love to hear about it!
Congratulations,
Liz (Sis)

I like road cc because it's web based, up to the minute and always fresh, a well deserved award that isn't schwag.

He just did his Frank Spencer, followed it up with Victor Meldrew, then fell down the steps like Norman Wisdom.

Inevitably, people will draw their own conclusions from the fact that we've won both years since I joined road.cc. To those people I say this: the others are equally valuable in their own ways. I simply won't take all the credit.

Mainly I thanked all the people who voted for us, all the people who've supported us, the very wonderful road.cc team, my mum… sniff… I'm breaking up a bit now… oh yes, and Dave for mending my seized front mech last week
