Cambridgeshire Travel for Work Partnership (TfW) is putting on a free workshop to help employers develop effective travel plans – which could save them money and help their staff to get fitter.
Tony Clayton, travel plan adviser at TfW, said, “The workshop – What to do with data and marketing events and campaigns – will give employers practical advice and support to discover what low cost opportunities exist to ease their employees’ travel to work stresses.”
The event is open to any organisation, regardless of travel planning experience. Organisers are inviting any employers interested in hearing how TfW can help them as well as finding out from other local employers how to run events and campaigns.
The workshop, which runs from 8.30am to 1.30pm next Monday (20 September), is the second of two workshops being sponsored by the European Regional Development fund – administered by EEDA.
It is being held at the SmartLIFE Centre, Cambridge Regional College, Kings Hedges Drive, Cambridge, CB4 2QT. There is no need to have attended Workshop 1 as this is a stand-alone session.
On show will be the TfW tools used to help develop and monitor employer travel plans – like bespoke staff travel surveys and home postcode maps. Delegates will hear about approaches to linking travel plan measures to recession-busting messages; for example promoting and facilitating car sharing, bus and train transport, cycling and walking can all save commuters money and improve their fitness.
Tony Clayton said, “There is a surprising number of ways an employer can encourage and implement low cost sustainable transport options, and this workshop is all about giving employers practical tools and solutions and raising awareness of the opportunities.”
Lunch will be provided at the workshop, giving employers the chance to meet others who are developing travel initiatives for their employees. If you’re interested in finding out more, visit the Travel for Work Partnership website, call on 01223 715550 or email info [at] tfw.org.uk.
