Police appeal after cyclist found dead on Wiltshire road

Man aged 77 was discovered yesterday lunchtime near Newton Tony

Police in Wiltshire have appealed for witnesses after a cyclist was discovered dead next to his bicycle on a country road.

The 77-year-old was found at around 12.30pm yesterday on Cholderton Road, near Newton Tony, nine miles north east of Salisbury.

Despite emergency services attending the scene, he was pronounced dead there.

Police, who closed the road for several hours yesterday while they investigated the incident, have not said whether they believe another vehicle was involved.

The road was closed until the mid-afternoon while investigations were carried out.

Officers have asked anyone who has information or who saw the rider yesterday to contact them on 101.

Shouldn't this be headlined "on a Wiltshire road" and not "on Wiltshire Road"? Sad news, either way.

I wonder if the Daily Mail will give this any attention?
