The Australian Cycling Alliance has published footage shot by one of its members in which a motorist bounces off road to undertake a group of cyclists, narrowly missing a couple of horse riders in the process.

The footage, captured on a country road south of Perth on Monday, shows a group riding two abreast.

They move to the right as they approach a couple of horse riders on the left-hand side of the road so as not to spook the horses.

As they move back towards the left-hand side of the road, they’re shocked to see that an impatient driver is undertaking them.

Edward Hore, the president of the organisation, said that the car had been travelling behind the cyclists for ‘seconds’ before the driver made the crazy manoeuvre.

“He could have killed people. He almost lost control of his car. You can see his back wheels pop up. It’s madness.”

Hore was speaking to Daily Mail Australia.

If you’re wondering about the tone of their coverage, the headline on the article is: “Sunday dilemma most drivers can relate to: Cyclists slam driver for going off-road to pass them on a country road in bike cam footage – but should they REALLY be taking up the entire lane?”
