Last-minute cycling events: Holme Moss, Bike Bath + more

There are still last-minute places for some of the best UK cycling events this weekend, check them out with the road.cc RideCatcher

Riding bikes is a passion that we all share here at road.cc, but livening up our tried and tested local routes can be tough.

Sportives and charity rides are a perfect opportunity for you to not only shake up that riding routine, they're also a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow cyclists, push yourself out of your same-old-roads comfort zone, and even support a fantastic cause.

That's why we're launching the road.cc RideCatcher. Every week we'll scour the landscape for cycling events with available last-minute places, and send the links your way.

This week we've got a huge spread. The stand-out events are the fantastic Bike Bath which covers the old Roman roads of the ancient city, Le Cote-de-Home Moss Sportive weekend which centres around the climb of Yorkshire Grand Depart fame, and the Etape de Yorkshire Premier Anniversaire which is not only celebrating one year since the Tour visited the UK, but is raising money for the charity Cyclists Fighting Cancer as well.

Below you'll find a quick reference to the locations of this week's RideCatcher events:

If this edition of the RideCatcher doesn't feature any events near to you this weekend, don't despair, there's always next weekend.

Saturday July 4

Le Cote-de-Holme Moss Sportive weekend
The Bridge Public House, West Yorkshire

Organised by Holmfirth Cycling Club, Le Cote-de-Holme Moss Sportive weekend is here to celebrate the anniversary weekend of the Tour de France passing over the famous climb.

Free camping will be available to all entrants on Friday and Saturday night, as well as access to the Bridge Pub beer, food, and entertainment festival which is just across the road from the campsite.

Two ride options are available, the 'Massive' ride, which at 140km lives up to its name, and the deceptively named 84km 'Little 'Un'.

Prices stand at £35 before the event per person, and £40 on the day. Follow the link below to enter, or click on the event title for more information.

Etape de Yorkshire Premier Anniversaire
Harewood House, West Yorkshire

Another UK Grand Depart anniversary celebration here. Supporting the Cyclists Fighting Cancer charity, this event sets off from the exact spot that the Tour did at Harewood House in Leeds.

The event organisers say that they can't promise that Will and Kate will be in attendance this year, but they can guarantee that you'll have a great time on the event, which covers beautiful Yorkshire Dales countryside from Ripon to Thwaite.

You'll be paying £35 for the long route, and a slightly lowered £30 for the shorter ride. All proceeds go to Cyclists Fighting Cancer. You can enter below.

Sunday July 5

Bike Bath 2015
Bath Recreation Ground, Somerset

Ride the roads of the beautiful Roman city in the South West of England this weekend. There are still some places left for the fantastic sportive and cycling festival.

There are four rides of differing lengths and difficulty available. The 80 and 50 milers aren't for the weak legged or the feint hearted. Appropriately, they'll set you back the most money at £33 or £35 on the day.

Alternatively there are two shorter options. The 25 mile route still features some solid climbs but lays off on the distance, while the 10 miler is aimed at newer and younger riders. The 25 mile ride will cost £18 ahead of time, and the 10 miler will cost £15. Both rides will set you back £20 on the day, although under 16s can ride for free.

Pedal for Parkinsons
Ripley Castle, Harrogate

Degenerative disease charity, Parkinsons UK, is encouraging you to come and ride 20, 42 or 60 miles over some of North Yorkshires most beautiful hills made famous by last year's Tour de France Grand Depart.

The idea is to fundraise and keep the cogs of the vital services for people with Parkinson's in Yorkshire turning by aiming to raise £100 each.

While the charity say any donation is welcomed, you wouldn't want to be the only one showing up without £100, would you? You've still got a couple of days; get fundraising!

Online registration is closed, but don't fret, you can sign up on the day. Arrive at Ripley Castle between 7:30 and 8:00am to register. The registration fee on the day is £25 in cash only.

Shropshire Hills Sportive 2015
Bridgnorth, Shropshire

This year is the fifth edition of the Shropshire Hills sportive based in the beautiful town of Bridgnorth in Shropshire. As is tradition, the event will close down the town's high street so that the family event can have a safe, relaxed, festival atmosphere which starts and finishes at the town hall.

You'll have three choices of distance: 100, 70 and 50 miles, and you can sign up via British Cycling by clicking on the link below.

They're hoping for more riders this year, as well as even more fundraising for the local St John's Hospice.

The imaginatively named Reservoir Cogs sportive is a new edition to the cycling events calendar.

Covering some of the most beautiful roads in Leicestershire, including quite appropriately a number of reservoirs, across two rides - the Big Cog (112 miles) and the Little Cog (50 miles) - the event is set to be stunning.

Organisers Racetime Events have been doing triathlons for years so you can rest assured that this one will be well organised.
