Café du Cycliste has a new superlight jersey in its range for spring/summer, along with new colour options for existing designs in the clothing range.
The brand, based on the on the French Riviera, has added the new Fleurette jersey (€120), for both men and women, to its Sur Le Bitume performance range. Intended for hot weather, it's made from a lightweight (130g/m2), stretchy fabric that’s designed to shift moisture away from your body.
It comes with three pockets in the lower back, the two side ones with slanted tops for easier use, plus an additional fourth zipped pocket.
The Violette merino jersey (€120, men’s and women’s versions are available) comes in a couple of new colours: this orange and a dark blue version too.
It has a full-length front zip, three open rear pockets, a zipped key pocket and a pump pocket. There’s another zipped pocket on the chest that Café du Cycliste calls an iPod pocket.
The lightweight merino Lucienne (€130) is available in this new dusty green colour. It’s designed as a race-fit summer jersey with mesh panels on the back and underneath the arms to improve breathability.
Over in the Sur le Zinc city range, the Simone merino polo shirt (€125) is available in a range of colours. There’s a hidden reflective band underneath the collar that you can show if you’re riding at night.
The Paulette shorts (€105) come in new colours too. These are lightweight and stretchy, and there’s a large, removable reflective panel in the back pocket that’s designed to help get you seen at night.

These look nice, and a bit different. Anyone got any experience- how do they compare to other higher end stuff like Assos/Rapha/Castelli? Is the sizing sensible or ‘italian’?
I have a couple of their
I have a couple of their pieces, their winter jacket and their waterproof short sleeve jersey and found them excellent quality, with nice fit and the attention to detail that one would expect at the price. Sizing is more UK/North American than Italian.
A word of caution on the winter jacket though. It’s very warm, but not very waterproof, so great for cold dry winters, but not so good the the UK.

I have a Violette (M with full length zip) and the size is comparable to Rapha (M) Belgian Jersey (full zip) from around 2011.
Material is slightly thinner than the Rapha merino tops and I’d say stretches (read- more prone to being saggy). But still a quality garment…worth the cost in my opinion, especially if they are bought at sale time (25-30% discount) :*
I’ve just got a fleurette
I’ve just got a fleurette jersey. Sizes a bit bigger than Castelli or Rapha. The medium I have is a nice snug race fit. In Rapha or Castelli a medium a touch tight and a large a touch loose so it’s nicely in between.
