Woman arrested after car flips onto roof in Oxford crash
A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 3.30 this morning, officers attended Windmill Road, to the scene of a collision involving a single vehicle.
This was the second crash in the area in just one hour, as another car had crashed into Finders Keepers estate agents on London Road earlier.
The car could be seen lodged in the front of the storefront at the intersection with Windmill Road.
An anonymous eyewitness told the Oxford Mail that police were still at the scene of the first incident when the second occurred, and officers rushed over to Windmill Road straight away

well,
"I just want to spread awareness about driving on that road in the ice."
Speed has nothing to do with it.

How is it even possible to turn a car over on the road out of Ranton? This is a road I use often and is quite straight after the "climb" out of Ranton; thus, I have no idea how they did this..... going too fast/not taking care of what they are doing/driving like a prat?
A street view showing how straight the road is... https://maps.app.goo.gl/3yyweGKwDBxBbem46
She was dismissed so that's something perhaps uncommon for the police... No driving ban though, it was just careless (even though she'd lied about the cause - presumably the courts just ascribed that to "trying to keep job").
Are they sure it hasn't been there since the neolithic? It looks in keeping with e.g. some of the local menhirs? Although the other ones near St. Malo look in better condition (and considerably heavier).
Harsh to arrest somebody, just because their car decided to flip over.
Clearly the speed bumps are dangerous and need to be removed.
I watched PoliceTrafficInterceptorMotorwayCops247 last night and they had a story where a seventeen year old had speeded, bounced off a wall (luckily avoiding the twenty foot drop on the other side), and flipped her car. She wasn't injured, but it transpired that she only had a provisional licence, was in the car on her own, and therefore also had no insurance.
The police seemed remarkably blase about it, although they did phone her mum and warned the driver she "might" get points on her licence…
That's a clear 2 points awarded there, but I guess as there's now a 25% tariff you'll only get 1.5
Speed has nothing to do with it
And it's purely coincidental that a fellow awareness raiser was instrumental in another vehicle write-off shortly before. It's all mysterious, just like Harry Potter
"Swerving to avoid an animal on the road" is the new catch-all excuse, for when you crash your car because you are busy texting someone.

There seems to be a lack of empathy here. Don't you realise how difficult it is to keep track of all those screens, the phone, eating and drinking and so on- and on top of all that having to look at the road?!
no, because it's cyclists who want to take us back to the Stone Age
maybe just lowered a bit like the ones in Colchester?
Phafff!
I can do all that at the same time, as well as chatting up some bit of totty I'll just collected from the Young Farmers Meeting. Well I suppose I am a better driver than most having a BMW....
surprised they didnt blame the council for not gritting the road
Most modern cars, especially SUV's perform very badly on the Moose test. Essentially a stunt driver has to weave through tightly spaced cones at higher and higher speeds until the car is no longer controllable, cones are hit or the car flips. The high centre of gravity means any loss of control, over correction or any sideways shunt will easily lead to a roll over.
And because they are so likely to flip and are heavier they have to have stronger and wider A pillars which reduces visibility.
Of course the headlines are all "a car crashed" barely mentions the driver at all even though they've been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
There was a thing I thought came in after the Selby crash where train Co's or Network rail could sue the driver of the car for damages and costs due to delays on the rail network from their actions, which will almost certainly be in the millions of pounds range
Bonjour Aviva, j'ai renversé mon camping-car dans un fossé et il se retrouve coincé contre une ligne électrique...
Aren't 4*4 supposed to go off road?
The biggest every car insurance claim. Took over 20 years to finalise, and was worth somethign like 50 million
yes - as I often reflect when I meet one out of my country lanes and their idea of courtesy is to stop, effectively blocking the road. "you're the off- roader, do some off-roading"
Car flips onto its roof in dramatic crash off busy Nottingham roundabout
I make it three points (photo of car on roof, residential road and no mention of a driver).

A four pointer I'd argue. 30 zone, plenty of pictures, no driver (yet paradoxically a 'professional' driver), not a supercar but supersized, and how about half a point for both lanes blocked ' beyond rush hour!'.

All the more remarkable because it looks like a pick-up actually being used to carry heavy/bulky stuff. I like how the Mini behind is almost saying "FFS, HOW?"
Emergency services called to River Medway near Strood Retail Park and Morrisons after car gets stuck in mud

if you change "when" to "then", you're closer to what happened here.
