Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/18649201.car-crash-wall-iceland-s...

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

"The railway bridge should have had better situational awareness and been wearing hi-viz"

https://twitter.com/NetworkRailSCOT/status/1660265603838492678

This is what we're dealing with right now. No trains can run between Glasgow Central & Paisley Gilmour St in either direction until our engineers have checked that the bridge is safe to reopen. They can only do this once the bus has been removed.

Car crashes into wall on Oxford street in 'hit and run'

The wall wasn't wearing hi-viz or a helmet, they should have put the cones out before the crash so that the wall was visible

Bolton: Car crashes into road on busy road, Astley Bridge

The headline makes no sense and the body doesn't make it any clearer. How do you crash into a road? There was a driver though

From the video it looked like the impact cut all power in the bus, which then had no brakes, the careened into the house. Which is a tad worrying.

£300,000 damage.

And across the land, parties supporting LTNS, 20 mph limits and emissions zones are all doing well at the polls, despite what the loud mouths say.

Mangled car left dangling over canal as passenger makes great escape into water

Dramatic pictures show the hatchback precariously balancing over the edge with only two wheels touching the ground and a completely crumpled front. The car managed to completely destroy the bridge's wall before deploying both airbags and then somehow stopping before falling in.

"Both occupants were fine, but the passenger opened the door and fell into the canal."

When will passengers take some responsibility for their safety and wear lifejackets?

I love a good war memorial one! At the going down of the sun and in the morning we may remember them ... but probably won't see them.

Firstly, the vehicle's on rubber tyres and secondly, the cab was probably acting as a Faraday cage.

Quite a few injuries, looks nasty.  Problem here is 2 modes of public transport are now out of commission - and looks like no-one's getting through there.  At least you should be able to pass under the railway on the parallel street.

Presumably this means a training course for someone, at the least?

I reckon they swerved to avoid the hi-viz cones

I wondered if there was something on the underside impacted by the railings it felled because as you and Andy observe, its lights all go out and it appears to be out of control after that.

Crash helmet at that height. Canals aren't very deep either !

Swim away from the boat until the propellor is off.

I shall be doing physics A level when I retire, then I will know about these things.

Not sure if you could see the video but the driver needs to be banned for having his tipper in the upright position.

Why was it a "crazy" driver ? The actual facts of the situation are that it took evasive action to avoid a cyclist zipping on and off the pavement. The cyclist got away and now the owner is left with a write off!

Probably went to chase the cyclist, lost them and can't now remember where it happened.

Odd that it appeared that the brakes failed on the bus, too.
