After building my first bike I thought it might be helpful to others to see the list of everything I needed. Please add anything you think I have missed.

 

Parts

  • Frameset (Frame, Seat post, folks, headset)
  • Groupset (Front/rear mech, front/rear brakes, shifters, cassette, crankset, chain)
  • Wheels
  • Tyres
  • Handlebar
  • Stem
  • Bottom bracket
  • Saddle
  • Water bottles
  • Pedals
  • Bartape (Gel pads)
  • Gear cable set
  • Brake cable set
  • Bottle cages
  • Chain master link
  • Inline barrel adjusters

  • Garmin mount

 

Tools and Other

  • Workstand
  • Cable cutters
  • Pedal spanner
  • Tyre sealent
  • Post cutting tool
  • Grease
  • Carbon paste
  • Bottom bracket install tool (LBS best option!)
  • Thread locker paste
  • Headset race install tool (LBS)
  • Hacksaw (32 teeth per inch)
  • Sandpaper (600 grade)
  • File and pick (for cable ends)

Spike, is a Garmin mount a bigger requirement than inner tubes 1

The advantages of tubeless tyres but I still carry tubes.........just in case

  • Track pump - tubeless is all very well, but airless is quite another 4
  • Hydraulic fluid and bleed kit for disk brakes
  • Torx 25 bit for brake rotors.

You'll need to add the sealant and gunk to the list then (if you can't tell, I don't run tubeless)...

No swerve, tyre sealant was clearly on the original list under tools

  • Electrical tape also handy for securing the cables before you put the bar tape on.

Damn it! I really thought my list was everything. Totally forgot Cassette tool, protection tape strips and beer!

Bottom bracket tool=large bolt nut and washers.

Race seating tool= 40mm poly pipe, cut 50mm deep slot across one end so it spreads a little. Heat race in oven to expand a little. Drop on turn fork upside down and hit polytube on floor, race will seat fine.

In winter but only in fair weather for this bike :). I get enough of that rain stuff on my daily commuter.

Are you planning on riding in winter? If so then mudguards should be an addition.
